    TOWING- MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

    1. General

    CAUTION: WHEN TOWING THE AIRPLANE, NEVER TURN THE NOSE WHEELMORE THAN 30 DEGREES EITHER SIDE OF CENTER, OR THE GEARWILL BE DAMAGED. DO NOT PUSH ON CONTROL SURFACES ORANY PORTION OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. WHEN PUSHINGON THE TAILCONE, ALWAYS APPLY PRESSURE AT A BULKHEAD TOAVOID DAMAGING THE SKIN.

    A. Towing.(1) Moving the airplane by hand is accomplished by using the wing struts and landing gear

    struts as push points. A tow bar attached to the nose gear should be used for steering andmaneuvering the airplane on the ground. When no tow bar is available, press down on thetailcone at a bulkhead to raise the nose wheel off the ground. With the nose wheel clear ofthe ground, the airplane can be turned by pivoting about the main wheels.
