Shivah of Harav ElyashivMarked

The end of the shivah ofHagaon Harav Yosef ShalomElyashiv, zt”l, was marked lastWednesday morning, withfamily members and closetalmidim going to the kever ofthe Rav on Har Hamenuchos.

A kesivas sefer Torah wasstarted on Wednesday in mem-ory of Harav Elayashiv.

Yahrtzeit of KoidenoverRebbe Observed

The yahrtzeit of theKoidenover Rebbe, zt”l, fell onThursday night and Friday, 8Av. His grandson and succes-sor, the Koidenover Rebbe,shlita, of Bnei Brak, led thetefillos at the kever of hisgrandfather in Bnei Brak’sZichron Meir Cemetery onFriday.

A yahrtzeit seudah was heldon Thursday night in conjunc-tion with a siyum on all of Shasmade by the bachurim of themain Koidenover beis medrashin Bnei Brak. During the tisch,attended by a large crowd ofchassidim, Rebbes andRabbanim, the KoidenoverRebbe spoke, delivering manydivrei Torah of his illustriousgrandfather.

Harav ShmuelKamenetsky VisitsMoscow

Harav Shmuel Kamenetsky,shlita, Rosh Yeshivah ofPhiladelphia, went to Moscowthis week where he will visitthe local kehillah and mosdos.

Harav Kamenetsky has beenvisiting Moscow regularlysince 2005, and hundreds ofpeople seek his guidance andbrachos during his visits.

Accompanying the RoshYeshivah will be members ofOperation Open Curtain, whohave been running mosdos in

Moscow since 1991.The group will spend this

coming Shabbos, ShabbosNachamu, in the Etz Chaimcamp with local Rabbanim andcommunity leaders.

Next Sunday the RoshYeshivah plans to attend ahachnasas sefer Torah in theBais Ahron shul.

Yahrtzeit of SlonimerRebbe Marked

The yahrtzeit of the NesivosShalom of Slonim, zy”a, wasobserved last Thursday, 7 Av.

The Slonimer Rebbe, shlita,the son and successor of theNesivos Shalom, conducted ayahrtzeit tisch in the mainSlonimer beis medrash in MeahShearim, and on Thursdayafternoon he traveled to thekever of his father on HarHazeisim to daven on behalf ofKlal Yisrael, together withmany chassidim.

Thousands Travel To Arizal’s Kever in Tzfas

Thousands, including manyRebbes and Rabbanim fromaround the country, went toTzfas last week to daven at thekever of the Arizal on hisyahrtzeit, 5 Av, The Arizal,Harav Yitzchak Luria, zt”l, wasundisputedly the greatestexpounder of Kabbalah sinceRabi Shimon bar Yochai, authorof the Zohar. He was born inYerushalayim in 5294/1534,was niftar on 5 Av 5332/1572,and was buried in the old ceme-tery in Tzfas.

Yahrtzeit of the DezherRebbe Marked

The 50th yahrtzeit of theDezher Rebbe of Williamsburg,zy”a, was on Sunday, 10 Av. TheRebbe, Harav Yosef Paneth,zt”l, was one of the foremostRebbes in Williamsburg afterWorld War II. He founded a beis

medrash and rebuilt the Dezhercourt.

The Rebbe was survived byhis sons, the Dezher Rebbes,zt”l, and his sons-in-law, lead-ing Rabbanim and Rebbes intheir own right: Harav NaftaliTzvi Halberstam of Bobov, zy”a;Harav Tzvi Hirsh Meizlish, Ravof Veitzen, zt”l; Harav ElazarMeizlish of Ujhel, and others.

The Rebbe is buried at BethMoses Cemetery in Long Island,and many descendants traveledto his kever on the yahrtzeit.

The yahrtzeit seudos wereheld on Motzoei Tishah B’Av,Sunday night, by his manydescendants the world over.

Yahrtzeit of Pupa RebbeTo Be Marked

The 28th yahrtzeit of thePupa Rebbe, the Vayechi Yosef,zt”l, will be marked onWednesday, 13 Av.

Many chassidim will travel toKiryas Pupa to participate in thetisch, presided over by theRebbe’s son and successor, theRebbe shlita, who will lead thetisch and deliver divrei Torah inmemory of his father.

All day many will go to theRebbe’s kever and at noon, theRebbe shlita is slated to lead thetefillos at the kever.

Annual Meeting of MifalHaShas in Bnei Brak

Dozens of Roshei Yeshivosattended the annual meeting ofthe Presidential Council of MifalHaShas in Yeshivas Slabodka inBnei Brak last Friday, hosted byHarav Amram Zaks, shlita, aleading member of the presidi-um and one of the RosheiYeshivah of Yeshivas Slabodka.

Hagaon Harav Aharon LeibSteinman, shlita, opened theevent. The Sanz–KlausenburgerRebbe of Eretz Yisrael, shlita,chairman of Mifal HaShas, dis-cussed the loss of many promi-

nent Gedolei Yisrael who wereclose to Mifal HaShas: HagaonHarav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv,zt”l, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, zt”l,Harav Chaim PinchasScheinberg, zt”l, the NadvornaRebbe, zt”l, and Harav MenasheKlein, Ungvar Rav, zt”l.

Later, Harav Eliyahu ShmuelSchmerler, Rosh Yeshivah, Sanzin Netanya, outlined the curricu-lum for all the programs of MifalHaShas for the coming year.

Yahrtzeit of the Ach PriTevuah to Be Observed

This Thursday, 14 Av, willmark the yahrtzeit of Harav TzviHersh of Liska, zt”l, commonlyreferred to as Reb HersheleLisker, and by the name of hissefer Ach Pri Tevuah. The LiskerRav was revered both for his vast

Torah scholarship and for hisability to connect with the com-mon man of Hungary in the1800s, the era of his leadership.In his lifetime Chassidus real-ized growth and acceptance onthe entire Hungarian landscape.

This year as every year, Liskachassidim to whom his memoryis dear will be commemoratinghis yahrtzeit. His grandsons, theLisker Rav, Harav Tzvi HershFriedlander, and his brother theHivnover Rav, Harav AvrohomFriedlander, will be conductingthe annual yahrtzeit tisch in theLiska beis medrash in Boro Park.

The seudah will be attendedby descendants of the Liskadynasty. Minchah will be at 7:30p.m., followed by the seudah;bentching promptly at 9:00p.m.
