07 November 2019 The Future I wish to advise that the planets are aligning and I intend to finish off 2019 with the various functions and events and return to start the 2020 school year, before retiring at Easter 2020. Knowing my intentions will give certainty to the staff, students and school community in the short and medium term. I will write my valedictory speech at a later date but I can say that I have had 22 amazing and rewarding years as Principal of Coolum State School and look forward to finishing on a high over the next few months. (Ross Naumann) World Teachers Day The words below were delivered by Clare from the P.&C. at last Friday’s parades. Last Friday 24 October was a very special day here at Coolum State School. Not only was it our awesome Coolum Carnival but it was World Teachers Day. As our teachers were way too busy getting ready for the carnival, on behalf of the P&C, all the parents & students, we would like to show our appreciation for them today and thank them for all that they do across our classrooms and in our community. World Teachers Day was established in 1994 by UNESCO, to recognize the role teachers play in our society. It is celebrated in over 100 countries and 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of World Teachers Day, which aims to focus on, ‘appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world’. Not just today but every day our teachers are making a positive difference, creating opportunities by empowering their students’ minds and proudly teaching not just our states but our nations future leaders, innovators and influencers. What is teaching? Teaching is solving the mysteries of human motivation, hope, fear and doubt every day to give every child every chance. The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery. Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. What do teachers do? Teachers plant seeds of knowledge that grow forever. Teachers inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill the love of learning. Teachers not only teach, they guide us, they support us and they inspire us Great teachers don’t give you the answers, they spark the desire within you to find the answer yourself. Rose are Red, Violets are blue. Here at Coolum we have the best teachers and they are you.
