Each complete lot can be assigned to one source of supply (allocated quotas).
It is also possible to split one lot between several sources of supply (splitting quotas).
You can use the quota arrangement functions with external procurement, in-house production and with stock transfer procedures.
Within the functionality of the quota arrangements, you can define a maximum and a minimum lot size as well as a maximum release quantity for the sources.

Quota Arrangements with Splitting: Example
Quota source X * open reqmts quantity
Sum of all open quotas
Reqmt 1 : 1000 pc., lot-for-lot order quantity
Source of supply Quota Surcharge quantity
A 40 400
B 30 300
C 20 200
D 10 100

2.2.2.
3.3.3.
4.4.4.
You can define a minimum quantity for the splitting quota. If the order quantity is less than this minimum quantity, it will not be split further.
The indicator for the splitting quota is assigned to the lot-sizing procedures in Customizing.
The system uses the following formula to calculate the surcharge quantity:
Source of supply 1: = 400
Source of supply 2: = 300
Source of supply 3: = 200
Source of supply 4: = 100

Chapter 5 Review
Source determination can be automized using the quotaarrangement functions. Quota arrangements are carriedout:
as allocated quotas - that is, each complete lot isallocated to one source of supply
as splitting quotas - that is, one lot is split betweenvarious sources of supply
Chapter 5 Exercises: Quota Arrangements
Quota arrangements are to be maintained for the sources of supply of the trading good LO525VV-##. The purchasing department has negotiated with two vendors, whereby vendor 1033 is to receive up to 60% of the orders, vendor 1005 is to receive up to 30% of the orders, and vendor 1002 is to receive up to 10% of the orders. These lots are to be split.
The material requires the appropriate indicator in the material master record so that the quota arrangement can be taken into account in the planning run. In purchasing, info records have to be created for each vendor and the quota file has to be maintained. Then, the planning run is carried out during which the sources are determined automatically.

Chapter 5 Solutions: Quota Arrangements
To 3. What is the meaning of the ”Minimum quantity splitting”? The minimum quantity splitting defines the minimum quantity that can be split. If the requirements quantity still open is less that this quantity, no splitting is carried out. Instead, the rest quantity is assigned to the vendor determined last. What is the “quota base quantity” and is it relevant to the splitting quota? The quota base quantity is used to balance the quota rating when new sources of supply are created for an already existing quota arrangement. The quota base quantity is based on the following criteria:
of the quantity of the sources that has already been quoted in the quota file
on the quotas of the new sourceThe quota base quantity is only relevant for allocating quotas. It is irrelevant for the splitting quota as no quota rating is calculated here.
