Before you start

If cable entries are installed, remove them.

If preferred, you can connect the DC input cable (see steps 2 to 3 and 8 to 12) before

installing the FPFD.

Steps

1 Remove the FPFD dummy unit as follows:

a) Undo the screws holding the FSMx core in place.

b) Pull out the core.

c) Remove the three screws holding the FPFD dummy unit in place.

g Leave the other dummy units in place if you are not installing any other optionalsubmodules.

Before you start

Steps

1 Remove the FPFD dummy unit as follows:

a) Undo the screws holding the FSMx core in place.

b) Pull out the core.

c) Remove the three screws holding the FPFD dummy unit in place.

2 Remove the DC screw terminal cover.

3 Loosen the screw terminals with an Allen key.

4 Remove the rubber plugs on the core and the FPFD.

5 Insert the connection card to the slot on the FSMx core.

The connection card for the FPFD looks identical with the transmission sub-module

connection card. Make sure you are inserting the correct card.

6 Align the FPFD with the guide pin on the FSMx core, and push the FPFD in place.

7 Fix the FPFD with 3 x M5x25 screws (included in the accessory bag) and tighten to4.0 Nm.

8 Strip the DC input cable as needed.

The cable size range for the DC input cable is 4 to 25 mm2 and the outer cable diameter 4.5to 10 mm.

9 Take the two cable glands off and thread your DC input cable through the glands.

Use lubricant if necessary.

If using a thin cable, you can utilise just one of the two cable inlets if preferred.

10 Replace the cable glands with the DC input cable routed through them.

11 Insert the DC input cable to the screw terminals and tighten them to 6 Nm with an

Allen key.

12 Tighten the cable glands.

13 Replace the DC screw terminal cover.

14 Route the DC input cable between the FPFD and dummy unit or transmissionsubmodule (depending on your configuration).

15 Re-insert the module core and fix the screws.

Purpose

Flexi Multiradio Outdoor System Module core (FSMF/G) has an integrated Gigabit Ethernet

and optical Ethernet transport interface available on the front panel, however, if more orother Ethernet interfaces are required then install an optional transmission sub-module(FTIF). The sub-module is also mandatory in co-location cases when a backhaul connectionor synchronization is done via time-division multiplexing (TDM).

Before you start

The System Module has to be powered off before installing or replacing the transmissionsub-module.


Steps

1 Remove the FTIF dummy unit as follows:

a) Undo the screws holding the FSMx core in place.b) Pull out the core.

c) Remove the four screws holding the FTIF dummy unit in place.

2 Remove the rubber plugs on the core and the transmission sub-module.

3 Insert the connection card to the slot on the FSMx core.

The transmission sub-module connection card looks identical with the connection card forthe FPFD. Make sure you are inserting the correct card.

4 Align the transmission sub-module with the guide pin on the FSMx core and pushthe sub-module in place.

5 Fix the transmission sub-module with 4 x M5x25 screws (included in the accessorybag) and tighten to 4.0 Nm.

Do not reuse dummy unit screws.

6 Re-insert the module core and fix the screws.

Steps

1 Remove the dummy unit as follows:

a) Remove the side flange.

b) Remove the middle flange between the dummy units.

c) Pull out the dummy unit.

2 Insert the extension sub-module.

3 Fix the middle flange back in place between the extension sub-module and theremaining dummy unit.

Make sure you install the middle flange as shown in the below figure. Tighten the screws

as follows:

• Dummy unit (plastic): 0.8 Nm

• Metal parts: 2.4 Nm

4 Fix the side flange back in place.

Tighten the screws to 2.4 Nm.

The Installation of the second FBBx would be done accordingly.

Before you start

Make sure that the module is grounded.

Choose a DC power cable between diameters of 6 mm to 20 mm.

WARNING! Risk of short circuit.

Make sure the main site switch is in the OFF position before you connect the DC powercable. Check that the polarity is correct according to the markings on the cable.

NOTE: The FSMx core DC input is only used when there is no Flexi Multiradio 10 BTSPower Distribution Sub-Module (FPFD) in the configuration.

1 Remove the IP seals from the relevant optical cable connectors in both System

and RF Modules.

When pulling out the IP seal, bending it to any direction is only allowed for a maximum

length of 2 mm. When the IP seal has come out 2 mm out of its slot, only use axial force

to complete the IP seal removal.

2 Remove the protective cap from the optical transceiver and push it in the System

Module.

Make sure you insert the optical transceiver as shown in the above figure.

Once the optical transceiver is inserted, flip the latch up.

NOTICE: Do not bend op tical cables beyond the minim um radius o f

- 70 mm (2.76 in.), when cable diameter is 7 mm (0.28 in.)

- 50 mm (1.97 in.), when cable diameter is 5 mm (0.20 in.)

Choose one of the four cables listed below:

External synchronization input:

• Sync Cable F (FTSF 472509A)

• Sync Cable G (FTSG 472576A)

Powering and controlling GPS equipment:

• GPS cable assembly 30 m (FTSE 472510A)

• GPS cable assembly 100 m (FTSH 472577A)

Connect the other end of the cable as follows:

• If your cable is a FTSF, connect it to the Sync Out port of the second FSMG/F in your configuration.

• If your cable is a FTSG, connect it to the Sync Out port of FSMC/D/E.

• If your cable is a FTSE/H, connect it to the GPS antenna.

No function (neutral):

Pushing the SET button outside the selection phase does not do anything.

Entering selection phase (neutral):

Pushing the SELECT button enters or resumes the selection phase. Starting at the leftmost position

(RF1) the LED starts blinking in blue color (blue color is not used for any other kind of signaling). With

each additional push on the SELECT button the blinking position moves forward from the left to right

position in a circular way. The selection phase ends automatically after three seconds when no button

has been pushed within this time frame.

Changing output state:

Pushing the SET button during the selection phase toggles the selected (blinking blue) output state.

As long as the selection phase is active you can toggle the output state with each push on the SET

button. When toggling the output state to ON the selection phase is extended to five seconds to give

the user enough time to toggle to OFF again (in case of target device malfunction).Restrictions:

The SET push button can be re-routed to the System Module. This allows the System Module to judge

over the ON/OFF functionality via the push button. Default setup is “no re-routing”.

Via priority controlling in FPFD it can be prohibited to alter an output state via the push´button when a

higher priority “access line” has taken over the control for a specific output. Default setup is “all access

lines have the same priority level”.
