    UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS 2012-2013

    University Faculty

    Pursuit of excellence on the University Campus is a function of

    competent, persevering and dedicated University Faculty. The

    University of Agriculture, has, therefore, made constant efforts for staff

    building with the result that nearly 1/3rd

    of its faculty comprising 550

    teachers including 300 possessing Ph.D. degrees mostly obtained fromthe foreign Universities; the rest are M.Sc (s) and or double M.Sc (s)

    including having undergraduate degrees of various fields. Although it

    has suffered its share of brain drain rampant in the country, the

    University has the largest concentration of highly qualified scientists

    located at a single campus, engaged primarily in manpower training to

    meet the growing needs of a forwardlooking agriculture. The Faculty

    wise list of academic staff is given at appendix-X. The reputation of the

    University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, as a premier seat of agricultural

    education in South Asia has not remained confined only within the

    national frontiers but has spread far beyond, attracting a steadily

    increasing number of students from African, Middle East and South

    Asian countries. At present about 60 foreign students are enrolled in

    the University for Various Degree Programmes.

    Academic Programmes

    The University offers an integrated programme of teaching and

    research in all disciplines of agriculture at one Campus to ensure

    interaction and exchange of ideas among scientists of different

    specialization. Emphasis is also laid down on the teaching of Pakistan

    Studies and Islamic Studies so that the graduates may acquire Islamicspirit and values and a sense of patriotism may be infused in them.

    approach this University being refugees have to pay dues at par with

    Pakistani student in line with the instructions of HEC. However, those

    who are not refugees will have to pay dues as prescribed for foreign

    students.

    Normally 40 70 foreign students from friendly countries like

    Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Indian Occupied Kashmir, Iraqi national

    Canadian immigerant etc. remain on the rolls of the University atunder-and-postgraduate levels.

    B. Sanction of Leave

    The leave to undergraduate students upto seven days is sanctioned by

    the Tutor/Senior Tutor and for the period exceeding seven days by the

    Dean/Director General/Director concerned on the recommendations

    of the Tutor/Senior Tutor. For postgraduate students the authority for

    sanction of leave is vested in the Chairman on the recommendations of

    the Supervisor concerned, for a period not exceeding seven days and

    for the period exceeding seven days the authority rests with the

    Dean/Director General/Director on the recommendations of the

    Chairman concerned. However, sanction of leave is at the discretion of

    the competent authority. Moreover, the leave period will not condone

    the lecture shortage that will accrue from the said leave period.

    The University normally confirms to the schedule of holidays observed

    by the Government of the Punjab. The Vice Chancellor can grant

    holidays upto a maximum of six days in an academic year on special

    occasions.

    C. Fines.

    i) A student absenting himself without leave will be fined Rs.2.00 per

    lecture or practical. Absence without leave for the whole day will

    entail a fine of Rs.10.00 per day.

    ii) A student anticipating or overstaying vacation without obtainingleave from the Dean/ Director General/Director/Principal will be

    fined from Rs.50.00 to Rs.500.00 as a special fine by the

    Dean/Director General/Director/Principal concerned according to

    intensity of the situation.

    iii) A student absenting himself without leave from games/Tutorial

    Group Meeting will be fined Rs.10.00 per day.

    D. Education System

    The University introduced the Semester System of education and

    examination since 197677 at both underandpostgraduate levels.

    E. Uniform

    The uniform prescribed for the students of this University is as follows:-

    a. For boys:

    (i) Winter Season(1st November to 15th April):

    Blue blazer coat with University crest, Grey worsted trousers,

    White shirt, Black shoes and Blue white stripped tie

    OR

    Grey ShalwarKameez, Navy blue Jacket, Black shoes with socks

    (ii) Summer Season (16th April to 31st

    October):

    White shirt, Khaki trousers, Black shoes or Chappal

    OR

    White ShalwarKameez, Black shoes or Chappal

    (They are not allowed to wear Necker, Long Necker at the Campus)

    b. For girls:

    ShalwarKameez with white over coat (over all), White dupatta

    (They are not allowed to wear Jeans and skirts etc. at the Campus)The students are expected to follow Government instructions for

    wearing the National dress.

    F. Migration from other Provinces

    Normally due to diversification of scheme of studies and system of

    evaluation, the students from Agriculture Universities/Colleges of other

    Provinces are not allowed to migrate to this University. However, the

    students who intend to migrate to this University, are be required to

    fulfill the following conditions/submission of documents:

    1. Reasons for migration must be genuine and plausible.

    2. The applicant must fall within our admission merit of first

    semester of the year in which the applicant had sought admission

    at his parent institution.

    3. No objection certificate by the parent institution and

    administrative Departments of both the concerned Provincial

    Governments.

    4. Production of a certificate of good conduct and behaviour fromthe parent institution.

    5. Production of detail marks certificate of the courses studied by

    the applicant in his parent institution and syllabi of courses for

    equivalence of his studies.

    The application alongwith above documents be routed through

    the administrative Departments of the institution and forwarded

    to the Agriculture Department, Government of the Punjab

    alongwith no objection for onward transmission to this University.

    ADMISSION TO INTERMEDIATE (PRE-AGRICULTURE) ON

    MATRIC BASIS

    Momentous progress has been made in recent years in almost every

    field of science that necessitates reviewing and revising the current

    programs to provide the students with knowledge essential for

    meeting the challenges of modern surge of science and technology.The new Pre-Agriculture certificate program will provide well trained

    nursery for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) in various disciplines of

    agricultural sciences. It will make the students to gaze at Intermediate

    education holistically for further their education in Agriculture and

    allied subjects. This twist of transformation will presage a bright future

    of young generation through integration of basic sciences with

    Agriculture for new thinking, novel approaches and innovative

    technical skills to accelerate the growth of Agriculture sector in the

    country. The objectives of initiation of this certificate program is to

    provide education and learning facilities to the rural masses that could

    contribute towards Agricultural and rural Economics Development and

    to prepare the young students imbued with the zeal and spirit of

    service to the nation.

    The Faculty of Sciences is offering 2-year Intermediate certificate

    program in Pre-Agriculture at UAF Community College (PARS) to caterthe needs of ever demanding Agriculture scientists in the country.

    Secondary school certificate pass students with Physics, Chemistry,

    Biology and Mathematics as Elective subjects from any Board of

    Intermediate and Secondary Education in the Punjab or an examination

    recognized as equivalent thereto from a recognized institution securing

    at least 50% marks excluding marks of Hafiz-e-Quran are eligible for

    admission to the Intermediate Pre-Agriculture certificate program.

    They will qualify this certificate program in minimum two years after

    Matriculation.
