The Check-In Process

The purpose of the Check-in tab on the menu bar is to check-in passengers for a flight using different

criteria such as:

• Passenger name

• Class of service

• Boardpoint only, and specific seat request

• Boardpoint and offpoint

• Future date within the check-in period

• Group code

• Different surnames and request specific seats

• By line numbers from a similar name list or passenger list

• Revenue standby passenger using alternate space

Features used during the check-in process

Seat Request

• If you request a specific seat in the initial check-in, the seat characteristics (aisle or non-

smoking) are also requested for downline seat assignments.

• If you do not request a seat in the initial check-in, a generic seat is requested in the flight

leg’s default seat zone.

• If you are checking in more than one passenger, all passengers must have the same type of

seat request (all specific or all generic).

• If you are checking in a passenger with pre-reserved seats, the pre-reserved seat takes

precedence over seat requests included in the initial check-in.

• If a requested seat cannot be accommodated, a seat map is displayed. You can request

another seat, split the party, unblock and assign the original seat requested, or place the

passenger on the priority list.

Page 17: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 8 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Boardpoint / Off point codes

• Check thru to the passenger’s final destination. If you include the boardpoint and offpoint

codes, the passenger is checked in to the specified destination only.

Passenger Edits

• You can enter any passenger edit from a list of similar names, or from a passenger list display

Priority Classification Code

• Priority classification is required when you are checking in positive space or non-revenue

space available passengers. Otherwise, Sabre returns an error message and terminates the

check-in. The maximum number of characters for priority code is five.

• You can indicate a “thru” (through) passenger by placing a T in the last character of the

priority code. For example, D2T for a D2 through passenger

• The flight’s priority classification restrictions determine if a passenger is placed directly on

the priority list or if seat assignment is first attempted and a boarding pass is issued

• If the positive space classification code is designated in the PNR, the classification may not

change during the check-in process

• If the passenger holds alternate space, you must include the flight number of the original

reservation in the check-in entry. This will update the PNR with the appropriate action at

post-departure

Seniority Date

• If your carrier chooses to require a seniority date for processing non-revenue passengers, a

seniority date must be entered with the priority classification code.

• Use the following guidelines when entering the seniority date:

o Year only (YY). The month defaults to January and the day of the month defaults to

one (1).

o Month, and Year (MMMYY). The day defaults to one (1).

o Date, Month, and Year (DDMMMYY)

o Length of Service (MMYY)

Page 18: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 9 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Upgrade

• There are two ways to upgrade a passenger:

o Upgrade a passenger’s class of service by inputting the flight number, current seat

number and new class of service. If accommodation cannot be completed in the

class requested, a seat map is displayed with an error message. You must then select

a seat from the seat map

o The passenger can be placed on the priority list for an upgrade using a specific

priority code that will be processed if the seat is available in the desired class of

service

Frequent Traveler Number

• A frequent traveler number may be entered as an edit code

Multiple Passengers

• If you are checking in multiple passengers, the following guidelines are applicable:

o All passengers must have the same flight destination and be in the same cabin

o All passengers must be eligible for accommodation, or all must be placed on the

priority list

o All passengers must request either all generic or all specific seats

Placing Passengers on a Priority List

• Passengers are placed on the priority list based on the booked or meal-listed class of service

in their PNR, unless a change in the class of service is requested

• If the passenger is placed on the priority list for a boardpoint, no action is taken on other

board points in the itinerary until they are accommodated

• If the boardpoint requires a standby boarding pass for security reasons, one is issued for the

passenger

• If a specific seat is requested and the agent has the proper authority, an override of the seat

blocks may be done

• You can check-in passengers as a group, even though booked separately, provided that the

number of names entered or selected satisfies the number in party being checked-in.

Page 19: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 10 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

NO REC Passenger

• A passenger is defined as NO-REC when a booking record cannot be found for the flight they

are checking in. You can place a NO-REC passenger on the priority list in by using the

Create Record and Check-in command pop-up window.

Passenger Accommodation Process

• The accommodation process includes determining the seat request, assigning a seat and/or

placing the passenger on the priority list, issuing the boarding pass, and updating passenger

counts and flight information.

• After completing the accommodation process at the boardpoint, validation and

accommodation of the passenger’s next downline flight is processed. If the next downline

flight is on another carrier with whom an EDIFACT agreement exists, EDIFACT is activated

through check-in.

Boarding Pass Issuance and Information

• When a passenger is checked in, seats are assigned and boarding passes are issued

• Each passenger can have single or multiple boarding passes

• Multiple boarding passes are issued when:

o There is a change of aircraft for the flight segment

o A change in seat assignment between flight legs is necessary

• Passenger name, flight segment, and flight leg information are retrieved from the PNR

• If the flight is being checked in as open seating, no-seat-boarding passes are issued

• Information remarks appear on boarding passes and can contain one of the following items:

EXIT Printed if the seat is on an exit row

CHG ACFT Printed on the boarding pass if the passenger is a thru passenger at the change of

gauge city

CN Ck-In Printed any time a boarding pass is issued for a downline flight

• The passenger information field on a boarding pass can contain one of the following items

INF Printed if the passenger is traveling with an infant

CHD Printed if the boarding pass is for a child or for an unaccompanied minor

Page 20: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Baggage

There are three baggage options your carrier may select to use. The ASA (Airline Serving Airport) table

for each airport specifies the default baggage requirement for that airport. You can change the option for

a particular flight and date, but you must do so before any passenger checks in on that flight. Once check-

in has begun on a flight, you may not change the baggage requirement.

The options are:

• Pieces only – P

• Pieces and Weight of checked bags – PW

• Pieces and Weight of checked bags as well as Carry-on weight – PWC

Based on your carrier’s default, the necessary options for baggage will automatically display when you

check-in.

Note The maximum number of bags checked per passenger is 10. Upon request for activation, you

may increase the limit of bags per passenger to 99.

Excess Baggage

The Automated Excess Baggage mask pops up when the baggage you check-in exceeds the free baggage

allowance, as determined by your airline. Upon collection of the excess baggage fee, check-in continues

successfully.

If your airline prefers that the check-in personnel not be involved in collection of fees, you can select to

not use the Automated Excess Baggage mask.

You may request activation of an alternative functionality that would trigger the system to send a prompt

to alert the check-in agent when the passenger has gone over the free baggage allotment. The prompt will

provide the agent the possibility to either verify the baggage amounts or to accept the amounts that have

been entered.

In the event that the amounts entered did exceed the free allotment, the passenger would need to show

proof of payment before check-in can continue.

This alternative functionality has the advantage of freeing the check-in personnel from collecting fees.

For activation, please contact Customer Care.

Page 21: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 12 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Ticket Search at Time of Check-in

At time of check-in, ticket collection must occur whether paper or electronic tickets are involved. When

the system is unable to locate a ticket for the passenger, the response depends upon the airline’s settings:

• The system automatically issues a “coupon required” boarding pass.

-OR-

• If TKT Edit functionality is active for the airline, the system displays the following pop-up

window:

Indicate the action you want to take. If you select “Search for VCR”, provide the ticket number if

known.

Contact the Sabre Reservations help desk for information on activating the TKT Edit functionality.

SSR Facts and SabreSonic® Check-In

airport check-in system

Carriers may choose to activate the ability to pass free text data from an SSR to the SabreSonic® Check-

In airport check-in system as related data. Free text entered into a PNR with applicable SSR codes will be

carried into SabreSonic Check-In, to be accessible on SabreSonic Check-In secondary passenger displays

such as:

• List of SSR Codes

• List by Specific SSR Code

• List by Name

• Passenger Detail display

To activate this free text option, authorized airline personnel may contact Customer Care.

The SabreSonic Check-In database will store free text data on SSR codes such as:

Page 22: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 13 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

• LANG - language

• MAAS - meet and assist

• MEDA - medical

• PETC - pet in cabin

• UMNR - unaccompanied minor

• WCHR - wheelchair (required for distance)

• WCHS - wheelchair (required for stairs)

• WCHC - wheelchair

• WCOB - onboard wheelchair needed

If a specific SSR code is passed to SabreSonic Check-In more than once with the same name and segment

association, the text from the new item will overlay the text for the old item.

Add Passive Segment to a PNR for the Purpose of Checking Bags

There may be times when a passenger holds multiple reservations to travel from origin to destination. In

one reservation the passenger is traveling on your airline, and in a separate reservation, he continues to his

final destination on another airline.

At the check-in counter at departure, the bag will check automatically to the destination that is in the first

reservation. If you wish to check the bag to the final destination on the other carrier, you need to add a

passive segment into the first reservation and then check-in the passenger with the bag. Your airline must

have a baggage agreement with the other carrier for a successful through check of the baggage.

Follow the steps below to add a passive segment to a reservation for the purpose of checking bags though.

1. Display the original reservation or display the reservation from the passenger list and select Add

under Itinerary

Page 44: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 35 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

2. Select Specific Flight

3. Add the other airline flight details, with airline code, flight number, class of service, origin and

destination and from the drop down menu of Select Sell Option, select the code HK.

Check-In Passengers with Connection Flight

When you check-in a connecting passenger, for example LAX-DEN-DFW, Interact attempts to assign the

same seat on both legs of the travel.

Should the same seat not be available on the second leg, the seat map for the connecting flight will

display simultaneously with a Seat Not Available pop-up.

Select the seat on the connecting flight – the Check-In Successful response will show for the connecting

flight, while the boarding pass printer will print both boarding passes.

Check In Extra Seat or Cabin Baggage

A passenger has the choice to book an extra seat when traveling. The Extra seat can accommodate either

an overweight person, or also act as a seat for a cabin baggage, such as a big music instrument or any

other bulky article that does not belong in the regular baggage compartment.

The reservation for the passenger and the Extra seat should show the SSR code EXST or CBBG

associated to the extra seat or cabin baggage.

At the airport, you need to add the corresponding gender to the Extra seat or cabin baggage. Select the

extra seat from the passenger list and add the edit:

Page 48: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Gender Check-In

Check-in with Gender is an option that needs activation from Customer Care.

If you use Gender Check-in, every check-in transaction requires the gender information about the traveler.

The information will be passed to the weight and balance systems for correct load and weight

management.

General Information about Gender Edits

• Common titles added to the PNR such as Mr. Mstr. Sr. Jr. (male) and Mrs. Miss Ms. (female) will

automatically update check-in.

o Other titles that translate to gender are:

Sister F

Sr M

Sra F

Srita F

• Mandatory gender check-in requires activation.

• Gender edits are M (male), F (female), C (child), U (unknown), R (stretcher), and Z (extra seat or

cabin baggage).

• You can add a missing gender edit before or during check-in.

• You cannot remove a gender that has already been applied to a passenger. You can only replace

it with the correct one.

• The gender edit always displays as the first edit in the Edits column.

• Edits R and Z must come over from the PNR and cannot be added.

Auto Return Check-In

Auto Return check in is a functionality that requires host activation. If your carrier is interested in Auto

Return Check-In, please contact Customer Care and request the activation.

• Auto Return check-in allows the issuance of a return boarding pass when the passenger’s

return travel is within a pre-defined time and applies to F passenger types only (Full revenue).

• The itinerary may not include any OA space. It must be online flights only.

• The time value calculation will be based on the STA (Scheduled Time of Arrival) of the

origin and the STD (Scheduled Time of Departure) of the return flight.

• The passenger can check baggage on the outbound flight. The system will issue the return

boarding pass, but the baggage for the return needs to be checked-in at the return airport.

• Multiple name check-in is permitted, provided the same data is valid for all names being

checked-in.

• Automatic Return Check-In does not process for a passenger traveling to or from an APP,

AQQ country.

• If passports are required for the destination, the DOCV will also be appended to the return

flight to issue the boarding pass.

Check In Infant with Electronic Ticket

Use these steps to check-in an electronically ticketed infant passenger.

• SabreSonic Check-In uses the I/ name field and SSR INFT at flight initialization to link the

infant to the adult.

• When the flight initializes, the following occurs:

o The infant information is located in the adult passenger item.

o The infant name, age, and ticket number are present and linked to the adult.

o The INF edit is automatically set on the adult passenger item.

• At check-in, both the adult and infant VCR coupons are updated to CKIN.

• A separate boarding pass will be issued for the infant for international flights.

Your airline can activate issuing a separate boarding pass for domestic flights. Contact Customer

Care for assistance.

1. Display adult associated with the infant on the Passenger List.

Soft Block Seats next to Adult with Infant

Your carrier may request activation of the functionality to “soft block” the seat next to an infant.

On aircraft that offer more than one cabin, it is possible to have a visual indicator of where a passenger is

seated with an Infant along with the adjacent seat blocked. The seat next to the infant shows as “locked”,

but the airport can use the seat if necessary.

Example:

Passenger checks-in at the airport with an infant.

Seat 8A shows “Used” and seat 8B shows as “locked”. The equipment is a two-cabin aircraft,

with cabins J and Y.

Note If the passenger holds a PRS (Pre-Reserved Seat) on the flight, the seat with Infant will also

show as above with the pacifier icon, but with a lighter color, with the adjacent seat as “locked”.

The system will issue the boarding pass to the destination city as booked in the PNR. On multi-leg

flights, you can specify the board and off points if desired, and the system generates the boarding pass

between these cities.

When you select Boarding Pass (Shift + F5), the Change, Reissue, or Swap pop-up window displays:

This pop-up is also available from the Chg / Reissue (Shift + F2) label on the Seats Tab and is fully

covered in the Interact: SabreSonic Check-In Seats training document.

In this module we will cover the options Unseat/Seat from PALL, Reissue Boarding Pass and Gate Pass.

Gate Pass

There may be times when a non-traveling person needs to accompany a passenger to the gate, for example

a parent accompanying a minor, or a person accompanying a VIP or a disabled passenger.

Note You must have the code GATE added to your PRC table in order to use Gate Pass in Interact.

Follow these steps to issue a Gate Pass.

1. Dedicate the Gate Pass pseudo flight (the city code for a pseudo flight is often GTP or similar

code)

2. Access the Gate Pass pop up, either through Boarding Pass (Shift F5) and select the option Gate

Pass

OR use the shortcut CTRL+ALT+G

Standby (Shift + F6)

Use the Standby (Shift + F6) label for all activities related to Standby, such as

• Place a full revenue passenger on the standby list of another flight – this functionality is also

known as Alternate Space a passenger.

• Place an employee traveler on the standby list of your flight

You can access the Standby label from F3 – Boarding, but also from F2 – Check-In.

Overview

One of the benefits SabreSonic Check-In presents you is the Alternate Space functionality.

Alternate Space indicates revenue passengers who are standing by for an earlier flight, or have missed

their original flight and are standing by for the next flight on the same day. Once you have

accommodated the passengers standing by for an earlier flight, the system automatically utilizes and

updates the original PNR at End Transaction time.

Use the option Place on Standby from the label Standby for any Alternate Space activity.

1. To begin, select Standby (Shift + F6).

The Standby window displays:

You can select from the following options:

Page 124: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 115 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

• Place on Standby List

• Display Complete Standby List

• Display Complete Standby List (with History)

• Display Unaccommodated Standby List

Each option will be discussed on the following pages.

Place On Standby

Access the Standby label with Shift + F6.

The first option is Place on Standby List.

The airline code, the flight number, and the date of departure auto populate to the flight that you have

dedicated your set to.

When necessary, edit the flight number to the one you are working on.

Alternate Space

Alternate Space – Standby for a later flight

Scenario: the passenger has missed the original flight he was booked on and is asking to be put on

standby for the next available flight of the day, going to the same destination.

Note The illustrations below are for example purposes only.

Page 125: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 116 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Follow these steps to put the passenger on the standby list for the later flight.

1. Check that the later flight has seats available.

2. Display passengers’ PNR – the segment that was originally booked is gone since the flight has

departed. Book a segment on the later flight, using the segment status code SB, then end PNR.

Example of itinerary display:

3. Place the passenger on the standby list of the later flight.

Page 126: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 117 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

4. Fill out the Place on Standby window with class of service, passenger name, number in party, and

priority code. Add baggage information as necessary.

5. Once you select OK, the system will check the passenger in on the priority list of the later flight

and issue a boarding pass with Standby status to allow the passenger to proceed through security

and to the boarding gate.

Page 127: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 118 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Note Should your airline request a fee for the change to later flight you can do so here.

Alternate Space - Standby for an earlier flight

Scenario: the passenger wishes to standby for an earlier flight than the one he has originally booked.

Follow these steps to put the passenger on the standby list for the earlier flight.

1. Check that the earlier flight has seats available and is still in open status for check-in.

2. Place the passenger on the standby list of the earlier flight.

Page 128: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 119 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

3. Fill in the necessary information in the Place on Standby window – class of service, flight, name,

number in party, priority code, and any baggage details. The most important part in this window

is to enter the Original Flight number, i.e. the one the passenger is confirmed on.

4. Upon selecting OK, the system will display the passenger list of the original flight.

Page 129: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 120 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

5. Select the passenger from the list and select Check-in.

6. The system puts the passenger on the priority list of the earlier flight.

7. At the same time, the system has added the new flight segment into the PNR with the status code

DS. After the flight has gone through Post Departure Control – PDC – the DS segment will drop

out of the PNR if the passenger does not get accommodated on the earlier flight, and the

reservation is intact. If the passenger did make the earlier flight, the DS segment will change into

the status SB, and the system will cancel the original HK segment in the PNR.

Page 130: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 121 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Note It is also possible to check-in a passenger for an earlier flight by using the Check-In mask

<Shift + F1> under the Check-In F2 tab. See the module Check-in for more details for this method.

How ESV (Enhanced Synchronization of VCRs) works with a DS segment

When the system adds the DS segment to the PNR, it will cause the PNR to go out of sync and you would

usually need to do an exchange to put the PNR back into sync.

If your airline uses ESV, you have two options to work with.

• Option 1 – Use the edit code IR (Irregular Operations)

o If the DS segment is not in the ESV table as an exception rule, when the passenger’s

original flight passenger list is displayed with that passenger’s name, you need to add

the IR edit code to the passenger. Select the reason for the IR code and add it to the

IR window. The IR edit will cause the system to ignore the PNR going out of sync

and will allow you to check-in the passenger to the priority list of the earlier flight.

Page 131: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 122 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Page 132: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 123 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

• Option 2- Add the DS segment to the ESV table as an exception

o If the DS segment is in the ESV table as an exception rule, then the system will

automatically bypass the need for the IR edit code and check the passenger into the

priority list of the earlier flight, and leave the VCR in sync.

Note For more information on ESV please see the module SabreSonic Check-In tables and SabreSonic

Check-In Enhanced Synchronized VCR.

DS segment – No ESV

Without the possibility of an IR edit and the ESV exception table, the addition of the DS segment

to a PNR will necessitate an exchange before you can proceed with checking the passenger in to

the priority list of the earlier flight.

Placing Employee Travelers on the Standby List

When placing a revenue passenger or employee traveler, you must know the corresponding Priority code

and add it to the Standby – Place on Standby List window.

Use these steps to place an employee traveler on the Standby List

The traveler does NOT have a reservation yet.

1. Flight – auto populates from Select Flight pop-up window

2. Date – auto-populates

3. Select OK

The Place on Standby List pop-up window displays:

4. Input the following information:

Page 133: 02_acs_check_in_ia

• From – auto populates

• To – input three-letter destination code

• Last Name

• Number of Passengers

• Priority Code

• Seniority Date – if applicable

• Number of Bags

5. Select OK.

The next window asks for the gender information of the passenger:

Note This window only appears if you work with gender check-in.

6. If the standby passenger does not have a reservation yet, the system will return the pop-up

Page 134: 02_acs_check_in_ia

show as boarded automatically when they are checked-in.

Your airline may wish to activate a functionality that inhibits the automatic ON of such seats. Once

the functionality has been activated, cockpit or jumpseat passengers will need to be onloaded as any

regular passenger. Board a jumseat passenger by specific seat number, using either seta 1W or 1X.

If a jumpseat rider subsequently deplanes, the jumpseat may be XON’d.

EDIFACT (Shift + F8)

This section applies to Sabre hosted airlines that use EDIFACT Through Check-In (ETCI).

Overview – EDIFACT / EDIFACT Through Check-In (ETCI)

What is EDIFACT?

EDIFACT is the acronym for = Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce, and

Transportation

EDIFACT communications are IATA-sanctioned, specifically formatted data transmissions between

computer reservations systems. Airlines who have partnership with each other can exchange information

electronically, using EDIFACT messages.

What is EDIFACT Through Check-in?

EDIFACT Through Check-In (or ETCI) is a product that allows you to interactively initiate check-in

related functions in the Sabre system for a connecting flight on a partner airline, booked in the other

airline’s system. Agents of a partner airline can also interactively perform check-in related functions for

connecting flights on your airline, while remaining in their system.

Partner airlines can be Sabre or non Sabre carriers.

The EDIFACT functions you can use in the SabreSonic Check-In system allow you to process passengers

whose itineraries include travel on your airline and other airlines with whom you have an EDIFACT

agreement.

When to Use EDIFACT (Shift + F8) Functions

Complete all EDIFACT check-in using the normal procedures on the label Check-In (Shift + F1),

making sure the option “Check-In to Final Destination” is checked”.

When the above option is checked, the system performs check-in for your flight as well as for your

EDIFACT partner’s downline flight.

Note Use the EDIFACT (Shift + F8) function ONLY if the check in does not process for the

EDIFACT partner. The EDIFACT functions in Interact are intended to be a secondary function only.

Page 172: 02_acs_check_in_ia

hotel, meal/snack, and ground transportation appropriate to customers during off-schedule operations.

The Customer Service Authorization mask operates from vendor information set up previously in the

CSA Database. The database contains information such as hotel, car and ground transportation

companies and their rates, as well as rates allowed for meals. Default data exists that applies to all

stations, however, each station may make modifications to the database.

CSA Database updaters must be signed into their station as a 7, 8 or # duty code and have the CSA

authorization keyword CSADBF in their EPR.

For more information on this mask, refer to the Customer Service Authorization module.

APIS Quick Query - AQQ

APIS Quick Query functionality applies only if your carrier operates flights into and out of the United

States of America.

AQQ provides interactive customer and flight information to the US Department of Homeland Security

(DHS) for security screening purposes.

Upon successful certification with the DHS, your carrier can request activation of AQQ functionality.

For full details on how AQQ works, consult the module U.S. Trans-Border Security.

Watchlist Clearance

There may be times you will get a system response upon checking in which says that the check-in is not

permitted or inhibited. The reason is that behind the scenes, the system is matching the passenger’s name

to names on the Watchlist .

Please follow your airline’s internal business processes when performing watchlist clearance.

A supervisor or agent with the EPR keyword SERCLR has the authority to clear the passenger from the

watchlist.

Note Should one person in a group PNR receive the watchlist response, you cannot check-in anybody

else of the group until the watchlist clearance has been approved.

Below is a list of example system responses:

CHECK-IN INHIBITED – CONTACT AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL FOR VERIFICATION

CHECKIN NOT PERMITTED-CONTACT SUPVSR FOR VERIFICATION

CHECK-IN INHIBITED – CONTACT AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL FOR VERIFICATION

THROUGH CHECK-IN FAILED ON YY

CHECK-IN INHIBITED – CONTACT AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL FOR VERIFICATION

Note YY is the two-letter code of the airline

PASSENGER STATUS CONFLICT CHECKIN FAILED

Additional Information

• The Watchlist check is performed not only at check-in, but also at Boarding time. This

second check facilitates flagging a passenger whose name was added to the Watchlist after

the initial successful check-in.

• If a passenger is placed on the Watchlist after having received a boarding pass, you will not

be able to change the seat for that passenger.

• When any bag issuance or check-in results in the “Inhibited” response, a message is placed

on queue RSXW. The person working the queue can remove the message manually.

Follow these steps to clear a passenger from the Watchlist.

Page 199: 02_acs_check_in_ia

Sabre Airline Solutions Training Documentation Objectives 21 November 2011 190 Confidential and Proprietary Sabre Airline Solutions

Note Your EPR must have the keyword SERCLR.

1. Highlight passenger from passenger list

2. From the menu under Tools, select Watchlist

3. The Watchlist Clearance window displays:

Selecting Yes will send a message to the TSA.
