RESCUED BY GOD’S WORD
Jesus said, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are? And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life?" Matthew 6:25-27 Kim knew when I was under assault by worry. I hardly slept. My mind was racing and I could not make it stop. I would doze off and even in my light sleep get mugged by fears. Business was bad. So bad. Creditors wanting their money. NOW! People who owed us money were in no hurry to pay. It was hard to concentrate at work. So I left early. I went to a park and cried out to God. I went home early for lunch. Home was always an oasis for me. The world can be in an upheaval and I knew I would find peace and safety with Kim and with our four-year old Micah and his little brother Josh who was two. Kim was setting the table, Micah and Josh excitedly waiting for what Kim pre-pared for lunch. Then I noticed it. My prayer journal sitting on top of the microwave oven. Open. Kim saw that I no-ticed it. "The boys and I prayed for you after you left and we wrote some scrip-tures that we thought would encourage you."

THE MESSENGER
RESCUED BY GOD (continued from page 1)
My eyes quickly filled with tears as I began to read. So I went to our
bedroom and read. And cried. God's peace sweeping over me as I read.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or
drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than
food and more to the body than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky:
They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are? And which of you
by worrying can add even one hour to his life?"
"Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they
are?" I continued to read. God's Word enveloping me with His love, fear
and worry scurrying away as God's peace replaced them in my heart
and mind.
Nothing had changed as far as our business circumstances were con-
cerned. Our creditors still wanted their money now. People who owed us
money still owed us money and were in no hurry to pay. What had
changed was me. My perspective. My heart.
Kim and the boys had been waiting patiently for me. Kim led us in pray-
er. As we started to eat Josh blurted out, "Daddy, we forgot one verse."
"What is it?" I asked. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him will not perish but have
eternal life. John 3:16," he beamed.
Tears again began to blur my vision. But they were now tears of joy. Of
peace. Of confidence that what God said is true. "Your heavenly Father
feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are?"
