The Development and use of Sustainable Energy in Brunei

• Brunei is one of the largest Oil and Gas manufacturer

• Rely mainly on Oil and Gas for its economic and energy use

• Brunei must find another sort of alternative for renewable energy

• One of the earliest energy resources found in Brunei is coal.

• It was reported that coal was found in Muara in 1837

• Unfortunately the coal industry in Brunei only lasted for 33 years; probably because of the constant decrease of coal price during that time.

The Discovery of Oil and Gas in Brunei

• The first exploration of crude oil was first recorded in 1899, near to Brunei Town• Six companies were involved in the

exploration including Royal Dutch Shell• Royal Dutch Shell found some

accumulations of Oil and Gas in Labi, Belait in 1924. However, the findings were too small to be commercialised.• In 1972, the Liquefied Natural Gas

Plant starts its operation.

• The Suria Solar powered plant, however, is just a demonstration to prove the nation of what harnessing the power of solar energy can do to the electric grid infrastructure of the entire nation.

• Brunei Darussalam is new to renewable energy; there are more potential renewable energy resources that would be compatible for the environment

• the use of renewable energy can bring a lot of benefits towards the socio-economic of this country

Conclusion
