*************Introduction*************As in any Harvest Moon game, social interactions are a key to success. Romanceis an integral part of the game and Courtship can lead to Marriage.

One of the Initial Requests deals with social interactions. If you live inBluebell, Cheryl will give you the Tutorial. If you live in Konohana, it isAyame who will impart some information about making friends.

Cheryl will tell you:

Cheryl: To improve your friendship with people, just talk to them every day!People naturally become better friends with some one who talks to them everyday! My big brother Ashâ€™s rule of building friendships is: Greet every one youmeet! Fulfilling requests and taking part in village events are good, too! Andthatâ€™s how it works!

Then:Cheryl: Did you kow that you can give gifts to people? To give some one a gift,talk to them while holding what you want to give them! If the present issomething they like, theyâ€™ll be soooo happy! Youâ€™ll become closer friends andtheyâ€™ll like you more! But if you give them something they hate, theyâ€™ll likeyou less. Hmm? Worried youâ€™ll give some one something they hate? Tee-hee! Donâ€™tworry! Even if you donâ€™t give gifts to people, just talk to them to becomebetter friends! If you talk to them every day, youâ€™ll learn the things they

like and dislike!

End of Tutorial

The process of raising Friendship Levels will be familiar to any one who everplayed Harvest Moon and/or Rune Factory. Primary is the ritual of 'meeting andgreeting' every one regularly. If you can do this on a daily basis with everyone in both Villages, so much the better. If not, try to alternate betweenCharacters or Villages so that you do not neglect any one.

It is not necessary to give Gifts to Characters in order to raise FriendshipLevels but Gifts are worth more in terms of Friendship Points than simpleconversation. Remember when you speak to any one to speak to them two or threetimes. The first dialogue will be no more than a greeting. It is when you speakto some one again and then once more after that in the course of any encounterthat you will learn interesting facts and details.

Only one Gift can be given to any Individual per day. If you attempt to give asecond Gift, it will be refused very politely.

Another important social interaction in Tale of Two Towns is the RequestSystem, whereby you can complete Requests that are posted on the BulletinBoards both in Bluebell Village and in Konohana Village. The successfulcompletion of a Request will raise Friendship Levels as well as giving Rewardsin the form of special Items, including new Tools.

At the start of the game, Request Rewards in the form of Cooked Dishes oftenwill be a means of obtaining Favourite Gifts for other Characters thatotherwise could not be created or purchased in the first or second seasons ofgameplay.

Harvest Moon games are driven by social interactions. New options are unlockedoften when you attain a specific Friendship Level with a Character. HeartEvents, technically 'Flower Events' in Two Towns, cannot be experienced untilyou have reached a required Flower Level with the Eligible Girl or Bachelor inquestion.

As Cheryl will instruct you, a Gift should be an Item that the Character likes

in order to have a positive effect on Friendship Levels. An Item that theCharacter dislikes or loathes will decrrease Friendship Levels although theeffect is not permanent.

There is one special Gift that is worth far more than all others for each ofthe Eligible Girls and Bachelors. This 'Most Favourrite Gift' has a value of+800 Friendship Points when given. On the other end of the spectrum, there isone distrinct Item that is an object of Utter Horror when given to anIndividual. The value of this Negative Gift is -1000 Friendship Points!

Every Character is different in his/her Likes and Dislikes. What pleases oneIndividual may disgust another. Although Rubbish Items are scorned by mostCharacters, there usually is some one who will perceive at least one of theseItems as useful or desirable. Paying attention to a Characters's Responses isan important aspect of gameplay.

Apart from the Gifts that have significant value in Tale of Two Towns, thereare far more that are simply Acceptable. These Gifts are worth +50 FP whengiven to a Character. There is no time limit where Friendship or Courtship isconcerned. A Player should not be too focused on 'Most Favourite Gifts',especially at the start of the game, when most of those Items will beunattainable. Many Most Favourite Gifts are Cooked Dishes, made often with rareor expensive Ingredients. Make the effort to 'Meet and Greet' every one insteadand to give an Item that is Acceptable whenever possible. You will find thatFriendship Levels will increase fairly quickly if you follow this plan.

As Courtship and Marriage are very popular aspects of any Harvest Moon game,this Guide lists Eligible Girls and Eligible Bachelors first, followed by asection that is devoted to all Other Characters.

You will find basic information, including Birthdays and Favourite Giftsincluded here, as well as a brief description of each Character. Easiest Gifts,usually Items that are found in the Wilds or are extremely inexpensive, aresuggested whenever possible.

Actual Responses to Gifts are included. The Items mentioned in connection withthese Responses are not the ONLY Gifts that would elicit the Response inquestion but rather are Items that actually have been tested. Any Gift thatelicits a specific Response will have equal Friendship Points value to anyother Item that prompts the same Response.

Finding the Most Favourite Gift for any Individual and giving it to him or hercan be very satisfying emotionally and it is worth more in terms of increase inFriendship but simple liked Gifts that are given to the same Characterregularly ultimately will raise his/her Friendship Level to the same degree ifnot more.

In most cases, a Most Favourite Gift may be a Cooked Dish or a very valuableand rare Item. Using simple inexpensive Items that are plentiful and can begiven to a number of Characters is a good strategy in any Harvest Moon or RuneFactory game.

Among these inexpensive Gifts are Wildflowers such as Magic Blue Flower orMoondrop, Butterflies, Locusts or other Insects, Small Fish of differentvarieties, Mushrooms of every type, Walnuts and even Branches or Stones. AnyItem in Harvest Moon can be detested by one Individual and loved by another, soyou need to know when to give an Item and when to withhold it. The EasiestGifts List can be a useful tool in this respect.

Alisa is a Character from Sunshine Islands and Island of Happiness. She, withNathan, preside over the Church ceremonies and whatever rituals occur unseen byothers. You can marry Alisa in Tale of Two Towns, but she has specialrequirements as befits a priestess of the Harvest Goddess. Although you canmarry Alisa, she will not have a child, presumably because she has taken vowsof chastity.

You will not meet Alisa at the start of the game. You must raise Nathan's FP to2 White Flowers, and have reached Autumn of the second year. You then canexperience her Introduction Event by walking to the Mountaintop between 10.00p.m. and 3.00 a.m. (Nathan will become the local Priest at the Church on 3Winter of the first year.)

Alisa has the same likes and dislikes as she had in Island of Happiness andSunshine Islands. She dislikes all Curries as well as any Dish with CurryPowder as an Ingredient, although Curry Powder itself is acceptable to her. Sheadores Ice Cream but will consider a simple Branch, Stone or even a Weed adecent Gift.
