    Healthy snacks with Year 6

Year 6 had a food treat

    with Mr Goldsmith this

    week! To kick start our

    Olympic theme, Year 6

    went to the Food

    Technology room for an

    aernoon focused on

    healthy snacks. They

    made delicious fruit

    kebabs and tasty

    apjacks.

    Aer Mr Goldsmith

    demonstrated how to

    prepare the food, Year 6

    followed his techniques.

    Once back in the

    classroom, they

    wrote up their

    aernoon. They

    included diagrams,

    sub-headings and

    technical language

    and described how

    the snacks linked in

    with our Olympic

    theme.

    They also found out

    about the type of

    diets that top

    athletes need to

    follow.

    Thank you so much,

    Mr Goldsmith, for

    your help with this

    fun packed

    aernoon!

    Recepon 2 learn about Japan

    Mr Sunayama came into

    Recepon 2 to help us

    learn more about Japan.

    The children asked him

lots of dierent quesonsmainly related to their

    own interests, such as

what is the fastest car in

    Japan? With the help of

    Kazuma, who was himself

    born in Tokyo, we learnt

    some Japanese like the

    way to say hello and

    thank you. Kazuma also

showed us some of his Japanese childrens books.

Mr Sunayama had told us about childrens day in Japanwhen it is the custom to make koinobori, tradional carp-

shaped kites, to hang outside. We have made some of

these in school. Mr Sunayama and Kazuma brought in lots

of interesng Japanese things to show us including

tradional spinning tops, Japanese newspapers and some

lile china animals. He has also kindly given us a pack of

origami papers to try out our skills in this tradional

    Japanese cra.

If you would like to nd out some more about Japan come

to our class to see our display. We also have all our names

wrien in Japanese on our door!

champion and she also came 2nd

    in the individual medley

Charloe Gardner and Charlie Turner came 5th in their

events. Ben Badham, Georgia Silcocks, and George

Denbow came 4th and Emily Doulton all came 2nd

    .

The girls freestyle relay team and the medley team,

    Creed, Charloe Gardner, came 6th

    . Congratulaons to all

    who parcipated so brilliantly.

    Year 3 go to @Bristol

As part of their Olympics theme,

    Year 3 explored @Bristol where

    they became sciensts for the

    day. Aer a mind-bending

    morning of challenges and

    conundrums, they took a closer

look at the human body using a

    very cool digital microscopea

    truly disgusng experience!

    Aer a healthy, well-balanced lunch, Year 3 met a

neurology expert, who had them using their brains by

thinking about working memory and how we can improve

it. The children put all ve senses to good use throughout

    the day!

    Swimming success for Ma Bray

Ma Bray from Year 11 concluded his swimming season in

style by achieving success at the Regional Championships

in Plymouth, represenng Henleaze Swimming Club, over

the Bank Holiday weekend. Ma won three gold medals

in his events, which is a fantasc achievement. This

success is evidence of his connued improvement in his

swimming at Clion High School and proof that his

commitment to 5am starts in the pool is paying

    o!

Congratulaons Ma, we are extremely proud ofyou!

    If your child is ill...

We would like to draw to your aenon the NHS

guidance on keeping your child o school.

Cough and cold. A child with a minor cough or cold

may aend school. If the cold is accompanied by araised temperature, shivers or drowsiness, the child

should stay o school, visit the GP and return to

school 24 hours aer they start to feel beer. If your

child has a more severe and long-lasng cough,

consult your GP. They can give guidance on whether

the child should stay o school.

Raised temperature. If your child has a raised

temperature, they shouldn't aend school. They

canreturn 24 hours aer they start tofeel beer.

Rash. Rashes can be the rst sign of many infecous

illnesses, such as chickenpox and measles. Children

with these condions shouldn't aend school. If your

child has a rash, check with your GP or pracce nurse

    before sending them to school.

Headache. A child with a minor headache doesn't

usually need to be kept o school. If the headache is

more severe or is accompanied by other symptoms,

such as raised temperature or drowsiness, then keep

the child o school and consult your GP.

Voming and diarrhea. Children with these condions

should be kept o school. They can return 48 hours

aer their symptoms disappear. Most cases of

voming or diarrhea get beer without treatment,

but if symptoms persist, consult your GP.

Sore throat. A sore throat alone doesn't have to keep

a child from school. If it's accompanied by a raised

temperature, the child should stay at home.

We hope you nd this informaon helpful and thank

you for following the guidance in the interest of

    others wellbeing.
