Logging On

Before you log on to the R/3 System, you need to know your client number, user name and password. If you prefer to work in a language other than the default, you also need to set the appropriate language indicator.

If the Client field already contains a client number, you can either accept this entry or overwrite it.

Press the TAB key to place the cursor at the beginning of the User ID field.

Enter your user name in the User ID field and press the TAB key to move the cursor to the Password field.

Enter your password in the Password field.

As you type in the password, the asterisks (*) remain in the field and only the cursor moves. As a security measure, the system does not display what you type.

Listings appearing on the menu bar are dependent on the menu you are in

The standard toolbar contains the buttons for performing common actions in the system

The application toolbar changes based on the screen you are on

The status bar identifies the system and displays messages

You can go directly to a transaction by typing its transaction code in the command field.

When on a screen, you can find out what its transaction code is by choosing System -> Status.

Multiple Sessions

You can process several tasks in parallel by opening several sessions.

From the menu, choose System -> Create session.

The system opens a new window, in which you can process a new task independent of the first window.

Up to six sessions can be opened within a user logon.

To activate a session placed in the background, click on it with the mouse.

You can move the individual session windows on the screen by dragging.

Be aware that you lock objects to other users when they are open. You can lock out others unnecessarily when working with numerous sessions

You can expand and collapse menus in the

navigation area by choosing the dropdown arrows

to the left of the menu items, as in the example below

Transaction Codes

A transaction code can be entered in the Command field

If you precede the transaction code with /n then the transaction is thenext screen opened in the current session.

If you precede the transaction code with /o then a new session is openedfor the transaction. This means you then have multiple sessions.

To start a transaction in SAP there are 4 options:

Position the cursor on the required transaction in the tree structure and press enter

Double-click on the required transaction in the tree structure

Position the cursor on the required transaction in the tree structure and select Edit Execute (or press F2)

Expand the command field and enter the transaction code

Role Based Menu

The SAP Easy Access user menu is a user-specific point of entry. The new role-based menu replaces the old SAP menu structure

Every user works with his or her own role-based menu

Each Role e.g. Stores In charge is automatically integrated into SAP’s authorization concept

All users administrate their own favorites in the menu

Standard Tool Bar

The Standard Toolbar contains the Command field and the standard SAP Toolbar buttons.

Command Field: The Command field is used to enter transaction codes that take you directly to a system task without using menus.

SAP Easy Access Settings

Users can set how SAP displays the Menu by choosing Extras Settings. Here, you can specify whether:

Your favorites should appear before or after the menu Only your favorites, and not the menu, should appear The SAP Easy Access graphic should appear on the right-hand side of the screen. Technical names of menu options should appear in the navigation area
