Stage 1: Academics

Strong GPA & MCAT What to shoot for:

› A in all core science classes› GPA above 3.5 (out of 4.0)› MCAT above 30 (out of 45)

Stage 2: Extracurriculars

Volunteering Leadership Clinical Experience Research Athletics Life experience Cool hobbies

Stage 3: Rec Letters Identify mentors early on Ask people that know you well

› Doesn’t have to be the most accomplished doctor, CEO, etc.

Give at least 1 month of notice Ideas

› Professor (or TA), research mentor, dean, boss, faculty advisor, volunteer leader, etc.

› People related to core science classes and medical work should be included

Stage 4: Interview
