Welcome to week 3.
Last week we held our annual Cross Country event and we certainly had a beautiful day for it.
Congratulations to all students who participated and a big thank you to the parents who helped
out on the day.
This week we have the NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 being conducted at school. Please
talk to your child about the tests and stress to them that it is nothing to worry about and they
just need to give it their best. NAPLAN is a very small part of the assessment process for your
child. It gives a “snapshot” of what they can do on a set day. Our teachers are consistently
testing and assessing the children in their class and have a very thorough picture of your
child’s learning levels. It will help your child if they have a good breakfast, an early night so
they get plenty of sleep and they are on time for school- this is good advice for every day not
just NAPLAN days!
Enjoy your week.
Lyn Barnes
Principal.

Tuesday 9th May Infants Assembly 12:45pm in the COLA Tuesday 9th May –Thursday 11th May NAPLAN Mother’s Day stall Friday 12th May Infants Theatre Excursion Wednesday 17th May Athletics Carnival
During Week 2, six WWPS students; Olivia Hopper, Claudia Hopper, Rory Burge, Annalise Bischoff, Thomas Jordan-Downes and
Brent Russell went to the Riverina Combined Schools Music Camp at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre near Wagga. There
were 55 students from 14 different schools and 14 staff/music tutors at the camp.
For five days we practiced and rehearsed a variety of different music. We did six hours of practicing each day, we had specialist
tutors that helped us a learn new music and improved our playing skills and techniques. We also got to do some sport activities as
well. We did archery, fencing, low rope course and rock climbing.
The last 2 days of the camp were concert performances at Lake Albert PS, South Wagga PS, Tumut PS and Junee HS. The band also
did a community performance in Wagga one night.
This was a great experience for all WWPS students, making new friends, learning new skills on their instruments and performing to
large audiences. All students had fun and learnt lots.
