What is going on this week in Early Years and Year 1? Hello Everyone! Welcome back after half term. We hope you all had a good break and Year One parents enjoyed the visit to the church during our Harvest Festival. Early Years children enjoyed their Mini Harvest Festival at school. Thank you again for all the food you donated. We are so proud, that we were able to share it with people who needed it. On 5th November every year, children in Great Britain are getting excited because it is a Bonfire Night. It is not going to be different in our school. This week in Early Years we will light bonfire. We plan to make a model of Guy Fawkes too. Early Years children will be learning about loud and quiet noises during our music sessions and will listen to party poppers making loud bangs. We will be also decorating finger biscuits with chocolate and edible sparklers to make them look like fireworks. In Year One we will be learning about Halloween, so definitely carving pumpkins and looking at how our body looks like during our new ‘Funny bones’ story. We hope is not going to be too scary. For this week we have also planned lots of outdoor work. We will be collecting leaves to make pictures comparing rough and smooth surfaces. We will be using sand, paint and shapes to make pictures. We also make photos of different shapes we find outside. During food technology sessions in the cookery room we will try to make biscuits by using different shape cutters and create a lovely midweek snack for the children. Oh, we are going to have lots of fun again! Don’t forget to wrap up warm. Have a good week
