Before the month is over it will be autumn. Yes, we will have several more warm summer days ahead of us, but for all practical purposes summer is nearly done. Already teachers and students have gone back to school. Friday night high school football games are underway. Gamecock and Tiger paw flags and colors are decorating our landscape. Remember! Before the first kick-off all teams are undefeated. So this is the time of the year when football fans are excited about their team’s possibilities of having a great season. This is also the time of the year when our church gets excited and starts thinking about next year. Over the next several weeks and months, as we begin to work on our plans for next year, we’ll be talking together about ways we can seek out God’s wisdom for the next steps we need to be taking as a church. Our Charge Conference will be held on November 6 th where our plans for the New Year will be set in motion. Also new for us is the appointment of our new district superintendent, Rev. Stephen Love. Rev. Love has new ideas and a fresh leadership perspective for ministry that he brings to our district. I believe that there is a bright future here at Trinity UMC, full of ministry and joyful fellowship and most of all, making a big difference in the heart of this beautiful Newberry community as we share God’s love with our neighbors. As we faithfully seek out and accept God’s guidance for our next steps, we will begin to see that future take clearer shape. Be in prayer for our journey together, and for the new ministry opportunities God will be opening for us.

We are a nurturing and open church to all who enter into our

Sanctuary. We base our ministry on the Word of God and a caring spirit. Jesus invites us to share our ministry to all that come into

our church.

“To make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the

World”

From the Pastor's DeskBeloved in Christ,

Can you believe it! Before the month is over it will be autumn. Yes, we will have several more warm summer days ahead of us, but for all practical purposes summer is nearly done. Already teachers and students have gone back to school. Friday night high school football games are underway. Gamecock and Tiger paw flags and col-ors are decorating our landscape. Remember! Before the first kick-off all teams are undefeated. So this is the time of the year when football fans are ex-cited about their team’s possibilities of having a great season.

This is also the time of the year when our church gets excited and starts think-ing about next year. Over the next several weeks and months, as we begin to work on our plans for next year, we’ll be talking together about ways we can seek out God’s wisdom for the next steps we need to be taking as a church.

Our Charge Conference will be held on November 6th where our plans for the New Year will be set in motion.

Be in prayer for our journey to-gether, and for the new ministry opportunities God will be opening for us.

I, along with Barbara, would like to thank our Trinity family for the gifts, cards and goodies that were given to us in celebra-tion of my birthday. Your kindness and generosity is gra-ciously appreciated.

Blessings,

Ken

All children are asked to invite their Grandparents to join them at church on September 11. We will have a special recognition for our Grandparents during the church service.

EPWORTH IS OUR MINISTRY! Where do children go when DSS has taken them from their families because of abuse or neglect? What about when a mother is struggling with addiction and is neglecting her children? Last year 181 of these children found refuge in the ministry we share as United Methodists in South Carolina. Epworth Children’s Home has been welcoming children in Christ’s name for 120 years through the generous support of churches like ours! We will participate in the annual Work Day Offering on Sunday, September 14th , to benefit the children who call Epworth home. Please be in prayerful consideration of what God is calling you to give to this valuable and life changing ministry. For more information about Epworth Children’s Home, you can visit them on the web at www.epworthchildrenshome.org.
