Scottish Text Section: Jackie Kay poems * Memorise key quotes for each poem. * Learn which techniques have been used in these quotes. * Memorise how to structure your answer to the 8 mark question. (Headings: General comment, Exam poem, Other poem) Essay Section: The Test/Saving Private Ryan/Shawshank Redemption * Go over the notes we made on the main characters. Memorise aspects of their relationships and experiences and what they tell us about them. * Memorise quotations/media techniques and the techniques used in each of them. Learn why they were used. * Memorise the structure used for writing essays. * Practise selecting questions from an exam paper. * Practise writing introductions for these potential essays. * Practise mapping out what you would write for these essays. Come up with what you would pick out in each of your 4 or 5 main paragraphs. RUAE Section * Memorise the answer structure for each type of question. * Read a random newspaper article and see if you can identify and comment on uses of word choice, imagery, sentence structure… * Practise full past papers. These are available on the class website.
