The Age of Imperialism was an era in the late 19th century when the United States and other major powers rapidly

expanded their foreign territorial possessions. After the 1898 Spanish American War, the U.S. earned its world power status.

Panama Canal- Artificial waterway in Central America that connects the Atlantic with the Pacific Ocean.10.)Roosevelt Corollary- An extension of the Monroe Doctrine asserting that the U.S. has the right to protect its

economic interests in Latin America from European interferences, and the U.S. has the right to exercise international police force to restore order (Big Stick Diplomacy)

11.)Dollar Diplomacy- President William H. Taft’s imperialistic foreign policy of furthering U.S. power in Latin America and East Asia by guaranteeing loans to foreign countries.

12.)Open-Door Policy- Foreign policy proposed by the U.S. in 1899, under which ALL nations would have equal opportunities to trade in China.

13.) Boxer Rebellion- Violent anti-foreign, anti-colonial, and anti-Christian uprising that took place in China between 1899 and 1901 which was motivated by proto-nationalist sentiments and opposition to Western colonialism and associated Christian missionary activity.
