Keeping you...In the Loop Issue 6 Autumn term 13.10.2017 This week’s learning This week’s learning in reception has been based around patterns and autumn! In numeracy we have learnt what a repeating pattern is and have made lots of patterns with objects, colours and numbers! We used colour squares to make repeating patterns and some children challenged themselves and made a repeating pattern that had 5 colours in it! WOW! We have also made patterns with autumnal objects such as leaf - conker - acorn - leaf- conker- acorn etc. The children have enjoyed investigating autumnal objects in our discovery area and learning about the season ‘autumn’. Please ask your child what the word ‘hibernate’ means! In RWI, we have continued learning the initial sounds and some groups have now got up to the sound ‘k’. Please come and see me if you wish to learn more about the RWI programme. I put a RWI sheet in your child’s bookbag at the start of the week that told you how we teach how to form the initial letters. The continuity between home and school is valuable in your child’s learning. Next week in maths, we’ll be looking at shapes and we will also be continuing looking at autumn in the afternoons. TAPESTRY - you should now have had an email to access your child’s account (please check your junk if you haven’t had one). As well as your child having a numeracy and literacy book, we also do a Learning Journey for your child too. In addition to this, we use Tapestry to upload photos of evidence that can’t be put into a book. We are also asking you to upload evidence of what your child can do at home. This will really help us gather more information. Polite Messages Thank you to those who came to the RWI presentation. If you didn’t attend and you feel you will benefit from knowing a little more about it so you can successfully support your child at home then please come and see me. Thank you to our first mystery readers which were Edward’s mummy and Jake’s mummy! The children loved you reading the stories! Please come again soon!
