The first executive meeting of SNA Kerala State branch was held on Saturday, 12th
March, 2016 at Renewal centre, Kaloor, Ernakulam for planning the activities for the year 2016.

The meeting began at 02.30 pm with a silent prayer. Mr. Aneesh D, the SNA state Advisor, welcomed the gathering and each member introduced themselves to the gathering and also welcomed the newly elected office bearers and congratulated them. , The New office bearers of state SNA (2016) are

The new office bearers took over the charge officially during the executive meeting. Detailed discussion about SNA activities were done during the meeting. Following points were discussed and decisions were taken.
There will be some modifications in the criteria of various competitions and the criteria for selection of best zone and unit. These modifications are given along with the list of competitions and criteria for evaluation.
All the SNA units should collect and hand over the state subscription on or before 30th April 2016.
Mode of communication from state level to the unit level is transferred from postal/ courier to email only.
The leadership training programme for state and Zonal level executives will be conducted in the month of April, 2016 at Renewal centre, Ernakulum.
The venue for the state level SNA competition will be in rotation and it must be hosted by different ZonesNorth West Zone -2016East Zone -2017North East Zone -2018North Zone -2019
Media participation/ coverage should be encouraged in all kind of SNA activities so that SNA becomes more visible.
Each SNA unit should conduct at least one SNA programme in a month and submit the reports.
Each unit level executives should submit the number of students in the particular unit through email and the list should be submitted along with the subscription payment also.
There must be a Zonal level joint bank account in the names of the respective Zonal advisor, Secretary / Treasurer for fund collection.
All the unit or Zonal level SNA activities along with photographs should be updated in the SNA website and social media.
Students can share their problems with SNA / TNAI executives and can seek their help.
SNA zonal level sports competition should be conducted first and the list of participants for State competitions should be intimated to State SNA Advisor before 30th April 2016.
State level SNA sports competition will be conducted in middle of May 2016. State level cultural competitions will be conducted in middle of July 2016. It
will be named and publicized as NURSING STUDENTS KALOLSAVAM 2016.
Active students’ participation shall be encouraged and promoted for the zonal and state level programmes.
It is decided to send mass petition by SNA units to KUHSfor modifying the University paper valuation system.

LIST OF CULTURAL COMPETITIONS AND GUIDELINES
1. On the spot painting
Time : 1 hr
Size of the Chart - Standard size approx 22’’x 14”.
The topic will be announced just before the competition. Participants should bring their own materials, but the organizers will provide the paper. Mechanical devices, e.g. use of stencils, etc. will not be permitted.
2. Floor decoration (Rangoli)Time : 2 hrsSize : 3x3 feetTopic will be given on the spot. Mechanical devices, e.g. use of stencils, etc.will not be permitted.

5. Essay writing – English

13. Poetry writing –English Time : 1 hr Topic : will be given on the spot. Maximum 50 or 60 lines

15. Solo SongTime : 5 minutesOnly light music allowed, no film songs. It will be conducted separately for boys and girls.

18. Folk dance - SingleTime : 7 minutes No film songs. Make up man can be utilized, but no outsiders including parents and makeup person should enter in the green room to help for the makeup. Dress should be simple and appropriate to the theme.
19. BharathanatyamTime : 10 minutes Only recorded music. Make up man can be utilized, but no outsiders including parents and makeup person should enter in the green room to help for the makeup.
20. Group songTime : 7 minutes Number of participants – 7, No film songs, no instruments.
21. Mime show Time : 7 minutes
Number of participants – 7. Background music allowed. No dialogue, no lip movement, Colour- White colour is more preferable but any colour can be used.
22. Skit Time : 8 minutes ( For preparation extra time will be allowed)
Number of participants – 7. Background music allowed, Recorded dialogues not allowed, Non political theme, Avoid bad/obscene words and phrases with double meaning. Dressing should be descent. Script should be in Malayalam, Presentation, Characterization; Clarity of Dialogues etc. will be evaluated.
23. Group Dance Time : 8 minutes
Number of participants – 7. Film songs can be allowed (Only Malayalam), Classical songs – Not preferred, Uniformity of Dress, Coordination, Proper Dress code, Perfection of steps, Presentation etc. will be evaluated.
24. Mappilapattu Time : 5 minutes
No film songs, It will be conducted separately for boys and girls.
25. Fancy Dress Time : 2 minutes
Recorded background music and dialogues will be allowed. It will be conducted separately for boys and girls.
EDUCATIONAL COMPETITIONS1. Health Play (Health Education ) Health education shall be in the form of Drama / skit/puppet show / poetry / song and folk form / couplets etc... A group entry should not have more than 3 participants. Language of the presentation will be either Hindi or English. Only a single entry either in Hindi or English will be allowed from each zone. Time allotment will be for 7 minutes (For preparation extra time will be allowed)

2. Quiz Number of participants 3 in a team. One team from each Zone. Topics for Quiz will be50% Nursing subjects25% Professional knowledge25% General knowledge
3. Paper Presentation ( Maximum 3 members can be in a group)Theme: Stress and coping of staff nurses in working place
The scientific paper presentation will be made by the student nurses on the above mentioned theme. The guidelines regarding scientific paper presentation are as follows:
1. The scientific paper to be presented in the conference should be on the specified theme and the study shall be conducted only for this purpose by the students who are presenting it. (Presenting finding of studies done as part of Nursing research paper or community project etc are not allowed) A certificate to this effect from Principal shall be submitted along with the scientific paper submitted
2. The paper should contain Introduction, Objectives, Review of Literature, Brief description of methods and procedures, Findings and interpretation, Conclusion, Recommendation and Bibliography.
3. Best (one) scientific paper, selected at the zonal level is to be forwarded by the Zonal SNA Advisor to the State SNA Advisor on or before 30 th June 2016 for final evaluation at the state level.
Time – 15 minutes (Presentation -13 minutes, Interaction -2 minutes) Unit advisor kindly help the students to start the research and finalize the paper and conduct unit level competition.
4. Exhibition (Poster Presentation) It should be conducted at Zonal Level & only the best entry per category and
section from each zone should be brought for state level competition. For each
poster presentation only one entry, either individual or group (Maximum of 3
members) will be allowed from each Zone. As decided in the National SNA General
Body Meeting the size for both individual and group poster Presentation will be same.
Standard size approx 22’’x 26”.
Criteria for poster presentation
a. Time - 3 hours
b. Size: Standard size (22’’x 26”) approx. for both individual and group poster
presentation.
c. Topics: Ideas depicted in the poster should be relevant to the topics given above.
d. Lettering and design of the poster should be bold and big enough to be seen from
a distance.
e. For bringing clarity of the poster, restrict yourself to one idea relevant to the topic.
f. The layout of the picture in the poster must be properly balanced to give a correct
sense of proportion.
g. Extra fixing of clippings/ cuttings or any other form on the poster should be
avoided.
h. The poster should depict originality and innovative ideas.
i. Only poster colour is allowed
j. Miniature or topic related drawings should be avoided during the time of
competition.
k. No base to be given while exhibiting the poster

SNA DIARY
Criteria adopted from national level
There will be separate evaluation of SNA diary for schools, colleges & MPH schools. Among these only two outstanding Diaries at the state level are to beforwarded to the TNAI Headquarters for National Level Evaluation. For BiennialConference SNA Diary evaluation is done for two full year activity report.

UNIT ACTIVITIES
Professional Date wise record of executive and general body meeting of the unit. Highlights of
the important points discussed in these meetings. Unit election and subscription remitted to the TNAI headquarters zonal level and
state branch etc. Student participation in branch level, national level conference and record of their
participation in various programmes in these conferences. Nature of fund raising activities organized by the unit and use of such fund. Celebration of nurse’s week: other days of professional importance, lamp lighting,
graduation ceremonies, college days etc. Enrolment record from SNA to TNAI membership. Participation in medical relief camps and disaster situations if any organizing
health teaching programmes etc.
Educational Number and type of educational programme arranged for members in the form of
lecture, discussions, seminars, debates, panel symposium, exhibition, extempore speeches, quiz programmes, publishing of articles, poetry or any other educative materials in nursing journal of India or any other magazine, newspaper, radio, television programmes, educational film, undertaking community projects as part of their field experience an educational experience etc.
Socio cultural Celebrations of days having National importance and festivals other than
professional in nature. Fine arts activities conducted by the unit like dance, dramatics music , drawing and painting , variety entertainments , quiz on general knowledge , flower arrangements, smile competitions, beauty contests, hobbies, programmes like sewing , stitching , interior decorations, picnics and visits . Awards and prizes won in the unit, participation in sports and games at unit, inter school/ college, state and national level etc.

Financial assistance to needy people. Aware about the new trends and issues among the nursing students and nursing

Zonal report should be submitted to the state Advisor before 30th June 2016 for final evaluation. Report received after 30th June 2016 will not be accepted.
Total Points
Points for all competitions – i.e. Exhibitions, Quiz, Health play, sports, games, cultural items and paper presentation will be taken in to consideration for considering the best SNA Unit and Zone.
Note:-Unit Advisors Annual report of the unit should be send to the zonal advisors in time for evaluation. Note that the unit diary (up to date) sends it to the state advisors directly for evaluation before the last date (spiral copy also considered).Zonal Advisors After evaluation the unit reports the zonal advisors should send the two best unit annual reports to the state advisor, along with the Zonal report before the state annual conference for the evaluation of the best Unit and Zone at the State Level. Final evaluation of the SNA Diary and report is done by state TNAI Executives.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
1. National subscription should be send by D.D. in the name of SNA NATIONAL ADVISOR, payable at NEW DELHI. Subscription rate is Rs. 150/- student and an additional amount of Rs. 50/- 1st year student (one time payment). The list of the students ( year wise) should be send along with the D.D.

2. State Subscription to be send to the State SNA advisor, D.D in favour of The State SNA Advisor, Payable at Federal bank, Umayanalloor or Kollam (Any bank). Subscription amount Rs. 40/- per student. List of the students should be attached along with subscription.

3. Zonal subscription Rs. 60/- per student to be send to the respective Zonal advisor.
4. SNA to TNAI membership fees is Rs. 2200/- they become member within one year of passing out. If any student become member in TNAI after one year of passing out, they are required to pay Rs. 3600/- as membership fee.
COMPETITION REGISTRATION

1. For educational, cultural and games competitions only one entry (only those who won the first at zonal level). For sports, personality contests, single items - 1st and 2nd winners can participate.
2. There should be at least 3 entries for each item to be conducted at the state level competitions for boys and girls.
3. Maximum number of entry for a student in the zonal & state level competitions are 4 single+ 1 group item for sports competitions. Games are not included in the sports participation.
4. For cultural competitions each student can participate at state level competitions are 4 single+ 2 group items from each zone.
5. Points secured by MPHW students will not be added for the total points while considering the Best SNA unit and Zone. Because all the zones do not have MPHW schools.
6. On no occasions the participants will be allowed to repeat their item, which is staged once except for reason of electricity failure.
7. There should be two or three competent judges for evaluation and their decision will be final in all items of competitions. Result will be announced by the judges on the spot, as early as possible.
8. A display board is used so that the students may know their score level.9. There is a single prize to institution rather than to each individual participant for
group items. Certificates and medals will be issued for individuals. 10. Only those who have paid unit, Zonal, State and National level subscription will
be allowed to take part in the state level SNA competitions. 11. Participants are responsible to be present in time at the competition venue. 12. Only those who are willing to obey rules and regulations are expected to take part
in any SNA competitions or any other activities. Any member or members who create problem and behave unruly violating the ules and Regulations of the competitions at the Zonal or state level will be liable to be dismissed from the association. These units will not be allowed to take part in any SNA activities from then on and for the next one year. SNA advisor from each unit should accompany the students to avoid confusion and secure safety of the students. Your efforts to uphold the SNA in our state is well appreciated. Expecting your continuous prayerful support and co- operation for the overall development of all Nursing students in our state.
