The Senior Accountant holds responsibility for performance of general accounting functions in an efficient and timely manner. Providing financial accounting support to the Finance Department and Executive Management team. Providing guidance and support to the accounts team and broader business.

Financial Management

Oversight of financial accounting month-end process Review of monthly journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations Monthly review of profit and loss and balance sheet Implement and maintain details cash flow management processes Timely and accurate preparation of financial reports as directed by the CFO

Executive Team Support

Detailed monthly management reporting and variance analysis against budget/forecast by department and the Nature Parks.

Provide superior service to managers, including development of reports for managers to manage their areas of responsibility

Liaise with commercial departments to review and improve accounting and reporting processes

Position Description

Preparation of Board and Subcommittee reporting. Annual budget preparation

System Administration

Oversight of retail POS and ticketing systems, including integration and Great Plains financial system

Knowledge of payroll systems and liaison with HR regarding payroll costing

Staff Development

Training and oversight of Assistant Accountant, AR officers and AP Officer, escalating issues to Chief Financial Officer as required

Policies and Procedures

Maintain understanding of current and developed policies and procedures. Develop and update policies and procedures. Ensure compliance of policies and procedures.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

Adhere to safe work method statements. Comply with and follow OH&S work practices. Identify and report workplace hazards. Actively participate in safety and wellbeing activities. Ensuring the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors.
