Instrument Music Tutors Margaret Woods-Nunn has been a piano tutor in many primary and secondary schools across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough since 2006. She started learning to play the piano at age 4 and later studied at Trinity College, London where she was awarded her Licentiate Performance Diploma (LTCL). Margaret enjoys coaching students and encouraging them to engage in social opportunities to play together at events such as recitals, duet days or as part of projects such as Nicholas Paul Simpson’s ‘Nine Pianos’. She has played alongside various ensembles and orchestras in ‘Carnival of the Animals’ and other live performances given to inspire students in their music- making. She also enjoys regular accompaniment work for a range of instrumentalists and vocalists and performs as part of a trio for violin, cello and piano. After twenty years Tim decided to return to the guitar, and set up Cambridge Music in 2009, offering tuition to students of all abilities and aspirations, from classical to rock. Tim has a 100% pass rate in grade exams. Prior to this she taught violin, viola, coached chamber music and conducted orchestras and string orchestras for over 30 years in North Wales. Over the years she has worked with and performed with many notable musicians such as Philip Ledger, Sir Charles Groves, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Catrin Finch and Howard Blake (The Snowman). Pam has been playing brass and the piano since the age of 7 when she took up the cornet inspired by her local village brass band. She went on to study trumpet, piano and voice at Anglia Ruskin University and later took her PGCE in Lincoln at Bishop Grosseteste University. Pam hasbeen a classroom and instrumental teacher for over 25 years and specialises in brass and beginner piano. Her playing career includes playing in most of the local orchestras, show bands, and wind bands, but her first love is for brass bands. She currently plays flugelhorn forWaterbeach Brass and regularly helps at Cottenham Brass Juniors, alongside many of her pupils!She is delighted to be teaching at Cottenham Village College. Sheanna has been teaching woodwind for over 25 years.  She studied at Lancaster University and had flute lessons at the Royal Northern College of Music.  After graduating she moved to join the woodwind team of the County Music Service in Cambridgeshire. She also taught flute at Anglia Ruskin University for several years. She has tutored for the Cambridgeshire County Youth Orchestra and has also developed and directed several wind bands including the Cambridge Junior Wind Band and Huntingdon Junior Wind Band.  Sheanna has played flute/piccolo in most of the local orchestras and has more recently taken up the baritone and is now a member of The City of Cambridge Brass Band! Woodwind tutorStephen studied music at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. He began playing piano at the age of 5 playing music by ear and then going on to teach himself chords. He had piano lessons and attained high passes in his exams. At the age of 15, he began to play the drums and had lessons with Shakatak’s Roger Odell. He has played in many bands and fronted some too and has released two albums which have been bought and downloaded all over the world. He has played drums in several musicals and in pantomime. He is an avid songwriter mainly specializing in jazz/funk music. He has worked for Cambridgeshire Music for the past 3 years and as a private teacher for more than 15 years. Stephen Moore

Catherine’s interest in music began to take shape at the age of 6 when she was fortunate to be given a piano by her uncle. Catherine continued

to be a very active musician throughout her time at school and continued her enjoyment of music at Dartington College of Arts, prior to embarking on her Music degree at Cardiff University. She particularly enjoyed being in close proximity to the ‘Welsh National Opera’ whilst living in Wales. Whilst completing her PGCE at Queen’s College, she developed an enthusiasm of World Music, in particular Gamelan, which led to a further 2 years of study in Indonesia. Catherine has always had an ambition to develop and inspire an enthusiasm and enjoyment of Music. She has taught Music for 17 years at Cottenham and loves it!

Vanessa Brown is a composer and freelance teacher of piano and music theory, also training students for the aural part of instrumental exams. She started as a trumpeter, playing in Essex Youth Orchestra before taking up a place to read music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. From there she went on to do a Masters degree in composition, and since then has combined looking after her three children, now almost all grown up, with teaching and composing.

In the last ten years Vanessa has set up and run some instrumental groups, including the Fen Edge Orchestra for adult players, the orchestra at CVC and Crazy Crotchets, a holiday course for children of all ages. At the moment she is involved with Swavesey Music School, running their Junior Orchestra and a theory class.

Ross graduated from Anglia Ruskin with a first in BA (hons) Popular Music where he specialised in composition and music technology. He plays guitar and piano to a diploma level and also enjoys accompanying bands on drums. Ross currently works for Cambridgeshire Music as a Music Development Manage and runs the School of Rock & Pop sessions also known as Music Factory. He is active in the industry in composing for a variety of styles including rock/metal, pop, and symphonic film scores and performing with his melodic metal band. Ross also works out of a home studio to record and mix local artists, he brings these skills to the music technology sessions at CVC. Ross Wilson
