JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Camps Service Manager Responsible To: Operations Manager – Children, Youth & Family Programmes Department: Children and Young People Location: Term Time – Nottingham city centre but with regular travel to other locations across the County Non-Term Time – Site Manager at YMCA Camp Williams and/ or various YMCA Day Camps Hours: 37.5 hrs – 50 hrs dependent on Camp activity including weekends and evenings as required Salary: £26,000 - £27,000 per annum (dependent upon experience) Job purpose To lead, manage, develop, promote and deliver the Nottinghamshire YMCA’s Childrens holiday camp programmes including the growth of existing programmes and development of new ones. To ensure the financial sustainability and quality of the camps provision. To plan, staff and lead camp promotional events during term time. To lead and be responsible for the correct staffing of all provisions including recruitment, training, performance management, quality assurance, line management, etc. To ensure the safeguarding of all children and families on our programmes in line with best practice To ensure that all provisions are Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage compliant as required and to achieve Ofsted ratings of good or above To support the development of an organisational culture that puts our Christian Core Values - Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility - at the centre of all we do. Principal Responsibilities1.1 To provide leadership, direction, management, support and guidance to the Camps

department especially to those that report directly to you1.2 To manage and evaluate staff performance on a regular basis including managing

underperformance, setting targets and ensuring follow up with appropriate action as necessary

1.3 To effectively lead, plan, develop, promote and ensure the quality of Nottinghamshire YMCA’s residential and non-residential camps, across the whole year

1.4 To work with other managers in relation to any OFSTED, EYFS or other registration requirements for any of our programmes

1.5 To build and maintain strong partnerships within the community especially with parents, head teachers etc.

1.6 To work closely with the PR and Marketing Team to ensure the effective promotion of programmes, publication of good news stories, liaison with the media, external bodies, etc.

1.7 To work closely with the Business Resource Centre Manager to ensure the effective management of all contracts, SLA's, etc. and to ensure the effective bookings process for all camps.

1.8 To assist with promoting the Safeguarding Children and Young People procedure for the Association including training staff, being a designated safeguarding officer, receiving and managing allegations and liaising with external bodies as required

1.9 To set, agree, monitor and achieve specific key performance indicators and business objectives

1.10 To work in partnership with the Funding Team regarding the Nottinghamshire YMCA Scholarship programme, research new funding streams, write funding bids, build relationships with funders, etc.

1.11 To ensure that all administrative, payroll, financial, funding and reporting responsibilities for the team are managed and carried out in an effective and timely manner

1.12 To attend internal and external meetings and present information as required effectively1.13 To liaise and establish relationships with relevant local organisations and statutory

agencies to ensure the promotion and growth of YMCA programmes1.14 To keep abreast of relevant local and national government policy/ legislation in relation

to children’s services / residential camps etc. and disseminate information effectively to the team and wider Association

1.15 Seek out new opportunities to expand the current provision

General Responsibilities 1 Ambassador for the YMCA

To act as an advocate and ambassador of the YMCA; promoting and exemplifying the YMCA’s core values, mission, vision, and ethos and to positively and proactively protect the YMCA’s reputation

2 Other DutiesTo undertake any other specific duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate Line Manager or anyone else designated by the Chief Executive Officer, as necessary. To work in a flexible way to ensure that the workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post

3 Discretion to ActTo exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post and to use best practice commensurate with the safety of clients and colleagues, and the effective and efficient use of resources.

Nothing in this Job Description is intended to authorise the post-holder to undertake responsibilities that belong properly to trustees and members of the Executive Management Team unless properly authorised to do so by the Chief Executive directly or through an appropriate Manager.
