Ordinance 99-7-41 – to readopt various standard codes related to inspection activities of Berkeley County, SC, and enforcement of building provisions. Including establishment of uniform fees and to repeal Ordinance 97-6-25 in its entirety. Adoption of standard building codes, mandates the existence of a Construction Board of Adjustments & Appeals; this Board hears Commercial Construction & Residential Construction appeals.
Ordinance 05-06-48 to amend Ordinance 99-7-41 & to most recent version of various international codes relating to building, residential, gas, plumbing, mech. & fire standards & adopting certain provisions & appendices of said codes.
Ordinance 15-06-15 to amend Ordinance 05-06-48 to provide for the powers, duties, and membership of the Board & to hear stormwater management appeals.
Term of Office: Concurrent with that of the appointing County Council Member. Terms must be staggered - no more than one-third of board to be appointed and/or replaced in a 12-month period. (Per R. Brewer, March 2007)
