THE PROBLEMDespite the need by half of Egypans to access medicine, there is a huge amount of wasted medicine in the country, with no system to link supply with demand. It is esmated that corporate waste reaches about one billion Egypan Pounds worth of medicine per year.

THE STRATEGYTTo match supply and demand, Waleed has created hubs to collect excess medicine, sending it through an intensive sorng process, filtering and then distribung it to those who need it through various distribuon channels. The hubs are independently run by volunteer pharmacy students where they receive hands-on professional training by screening and filtering all the medicine, which is then channeled to local organizaons for distribuon to those in need.

THE IMTHE IMPACTTo date Waleed’s distribuon chain has benefited more than 1,000 paents per month. His work saves the community, pharmacies and pharmaceucal companies an esmated 50,000 USD annually through recycling unused medicine. Waleed’s future plans include establishing 10 new educaonal pharmacies to expand his reach to other cies in Egypt.

SUSTAINABILITYWWaleed’s operaonal costs are low. The educaonal hubs only require a set-cost of a computer and database upon launch. Operaonal costs are covered parally by Board Members and will begin to include donaons, sponsorships from pharmaceucal companies and income from fees from events.
