Mural unveiling: The Salmon People Wednesday, February 20, 1:30pm - 2:30pm Capilano Branch Library

Join us for the official unveiling of the mural, The Salmon People, followed by First Nations storytelling (for all ages).

The mural had its beginnings at NVDPL’s First Nations Culture Celebration, which was part of Culture Days, in September 2012.

Squamish Nation artist Maurice Nahanee designed the mural, and during Culture Days the public was invited to help in its creation.

The mural, now completed, has been purchased for the Library through a generous donation from North Shore Credit Union.

Join us on February 13 as we discuss love. Is love all biology? As we become increasingly able to probe the activity of the brain, many psychologists seem to be claiming that human emotions are just brain states and activity largely out of conscious control. Recently Helen Fisher, renowned researcher on human love, made a similar claim. We will look at her TED talk and then discuss her claims, their validity and their implications.
