The title refers to the name of the main character, a little girl who has some skills that go beyond the average human capacity. She is very talented and ambitious, most of her time she is devoted to reading the next book and know how to adjust things by force of his consciousness. Her parents do not pay attention to her, even her presence annoys them, and they spend time watching TV. Her parents put her to the worst school that ever exists. Nasty and spiteful director works there, she is called: Trunchbull. She is totally the opposite of nice teacher bearing the name: Honey, who performs her profession with passion and love working with children, she puts a lot of heart in what she does. After some adventures Honey adopts good lady Matilda and quickly promoted to director of the institution.

In our opinion "Matilda" could be considered as a kind of attempt to create contemporary fairy tale for children, adapted to today's needs and abilities of children raised by American films and computer games.

Both the book and the film we really liked. We believe that they show and compare modern life. There are many families who love their children and care for them with their interests and passions. Others do not do it at all. There can be many reasons for this behavior. Little Matilda wants to show that she is a human too and she wants to be loved. She’s fighting for it with all her heart, and finally wins.
