Along with 21 Trustees, he was granted a Charter to found Georgia in 1732.

Granted the land to Oglethorpe for Georgia.

The state of Georgia is named after him.

On June 7, 1732 he granted the Charter making Oglethorpe (and Trustees) responsible for establishing GA.

Chief of the Yamacraw Indians

Oglethorpe established friendship with Yamacraws through Tomochichi.

Chief Tomochichi allowed Oglethorpe’s ship, Ann, to land on Yamacraw bluff to establish a permanent settlement.

Chief and Oglethorpe stayed close friends until Chief’s death in 1739.

Leader of a group of German Protestants, that wanted to get out of Salzberg.

They asked to live in Georgia, and Oglethorpe let them settle in Ebenezer.

They spoke different language and kept to themselves.

Two religious leaders that came to Savannah with Oglethorpe in February 1736.

In Savannah, they established the first Sunday School in America.

Oglethorpe designed this future city based on plans from his friend, Robert Castell.

Savannah originally was supposed to have 4 squares with twenty lots around each square.

Each square was to be used for political, social and religious gatherings.
