Turn In Notebooks
Repetition is the use of words, phrases, or lines more than once in order to: reinforce ideas; create rhythm; make the text memorable; or give “power” to the language in the text
Figurative Language is the exaggerated use of words or phrases beyond their literal meanings in order to compare similar concepts or characters ◦ “Fleece white as snow”
1. Find repeated phrases in the song. List them and tell why they are repeated. Which function of repetition does it serve?
2. What do you imagine the singers look like as they sing?
3. Identify and list uses of figurative language. What makes it figurative?
4. What general feeling does the song express about nature and the universe?
