1. Look up the definition of the following terms and record them in your Daily File. Today’s date is Mon, 5/13

The graphic novels
Take a few minutes to look through this book.
What do we need to know about reading graphic novels? How would you explain this to someone who has never read one?
Turn to page 46 to review the vocabulary words.
Day 1: Labors 1 - 6
Read pages 1 – 11.1. Pause. Briefly explain why Hercules
has to do the Twelve Labors? (Who is the driving force behind making him do them? Why is this god/goddess/king making him do them?)
2. Number 1-12 within this question. As you read, briefly summarize each of the Labors that you read about.
Day 2 Warm Up: Discuss Labors 1-6Partner 1 = summarize 2nd labor.
Partner 2 = summarize 3rd labor.
Partner 3 = summarize 4th labor.
Partner 4 = summarize 5th labor.
Partner 5 = summarize 6th labor.
Read through the end of the book
Continue summarizing each labor on your own.
Be ready to share your ideas with others.
Reading Pause: Discussion
1. Which of the Twelve Labors do you think would be the hardest to complete? Why?
2. Which of the Twelve Labors do you think would be the easiest to complete? Why?
3. What would be a task that YOU would have Hercules do for you? Explain with details.
When you Finish: Prep for class discussion Create a Google Doc. Title it “Hercules.” Within this
document, prepare TALKING POINTS for each of the following questions:
1. What do you think was Hercules’ sneakiest / smartest move in throughout his tasks?
2. Who has the most power in this story?
3. Look up the definition of the word “hero.” For what reasons should Hercules be considered a hero?
4. What is one theme or life lesson you can see in this myth? Prove your answer.

Write about a time you were very scared to do something, but you knew you had to do it anyway. (250 – 300 words).
