The spelling feature compares words in slides in a presentation with words in its dictionary. If a match is found, the word is passed over. If a match is not found, the spelling checker selects the word and offers replacement suggestions. To perform a spelling check on a PowerPoint presentation, click the Review tab and then click the Spelling button in the Proofing group. You can manage slides in the Slides/Outline pane or in Slide Sorter view. Switch to Slide Sorter view by clicking the Slide Sorter button in the view area on the Status bar or by clicking the View tab and then clicking Slide Sorter in the Presentation Views group. Click the slide that will immediately precede the new slide and then click the New Slide button in the Slides group.

Delete a slide in Normal view by clicking the slide miniature in the Slides/Outline pane and then pressing the Delete key. This on-screen reference manual is similar to Windows Help and the Help features in Word, Excel, and Access. Click the Microsoft PowerPoint Help button (the circle with the question mark) located in the upper right corner of the screen or press the keyboard shortcut F1 to display the PowerPoint Help window. In this window, type a topic, feature, or question in the Search text box and then press the Enter key. Topics related to the search text display in the PowerPoint Help window. Click a topic that interests you.

If the topic window contains a Show All hyperlink in the upper right corner, click this hyperlink and the topic options expand to show additional help information related to the topic. For example, to move text in a slide, click once in the placeholder containing the text to be moved, select the text, and then click the Cut button in the Clipboard group. Position the insertion point where you want the text inserted and then click the Paste button in the Clipboard group.

To cut and paste with the shortcut menu, select the text you want to move, right-click the text, and then click Cut at the shortcut menu. Position the insertion point where you want the text inserted, right-click the location, and then click Paste at the shortcut menu. Paradigm Publishing, Inc.#ContentsYou can use the mouse to move text in the Slides/Outline pane with the Outline tab selected. To do this, position the mouse pointer on the slide icon or bullet at the left side of the text until the arrow pointer turns into a four-headed arrow. Hold down the left mouse button, drag the arrow pointer (a thin horizontal line displays) to the desired location, and then release the mouse button.

If you position the arrow pointer on the slide icon and then hold down the left mouse button, all of the text in the slide is selected. If you position the arrow pointer on the bullet and then hold down the left mouse button, all text following that bullet is selected.

Dragging selected text with the mouse moves the selected text to a new location in the presentation. You can also copy selected text. To do this, click the slide icon or click the bullet to select the desired text. Position the arrow pointer in the selected text, hold down the Ctrl key, and then the left mouse button. With the sizing handles, you can increase or decrease the size of the placeholder. To move a placeholder, position the arrow pointer on the placeholder border until the arrow pointer displays with a four-headed arrow attached. Hold down the left mouse button, drag the outline of the placeholder to the desired position, and then release the mouse button.

Dragging a selected placeholder with the mouse moves the placeholder. To copy a placeholder, hold down the Ctrl key while dragging the placeholder. When the outline of the placeholder is in the desired position, release the mouse button, and then release the Ctrl key. To copy a slide, click the slide that you want to copy (either in Slide Sorter view or in Normal view with the Slides tab selected in the Slides/Outline pane) and then click the Copy button in the Clipboard group in the Home tab. Open the presentation into which the slide is to be copied (in either Slide Sorter view or Normal view with the Slides tab selected in the Slides/Outline pane). Click in the location where you want the slide positioned and then click the Paste button. In addition to duplicating slides, you can use the Duplicate option from the Copy button drop-down list to duplicate a selected object such as a placeholder in a slide.

You can duplicate a single slide or selected slides. To select adjacent slides, click the first slide in the Slides/Outline pane, hold down the Shift key, and then click the last in the sequence. At the Reuse Slides task pane, click the Browse button, click Browse File at the drop-down list, and the Browse dialog box displays. At this dialog box, navigate to the desired folder and then double-click the desired presentation. This inserts the presentation slides in the Reuse Slides task pane. Click a slide in the Reuse Slides task pane to insert it in the currently open presentation.

By default, the slides you insert from the Reuse Slides task pane into the currently open presentation take on the formatting of the current presentation. Click the Microsoft Office Help button in the Support category to display the PowerPoint Help window and click the Getting Started button to access the Microsoft website that displays information about getting started with PowerPoint 2010.

Click the Contact Us button in the Support category and the Microsoft Support website displays. Click the Options button in the Tools for Working With Office category and the PowerPoint Options dialog box displays with options for customizing PowerPoint.
