MY 5 FAVORITE BANDS

Members are Coy Bowles, Zac Brown, Clay Cook, Jimmy DeMartini , Chris Fryar, John Driskell Hopkins.

Zac Brown was raised in Dahlonega, Ga. The former restaurant owner started his music career as a solo artist, but in 2004, he

formed the Zac Brown Band with bassist John Hopkins and fiddler Jimmy De Martini; more recent additions are guitarist/organist Coy Bowles and drummer Chris Fryar.

They average more than 200 shows a year and have sold more than 20,000 CDs independently.

Brown was born in 1978 in Atlanta, GA, and grew up in Dahlonega, GA, a small town in the north Georgia mountains. He was the 11th child in a family of 12 kids, and grew up in a split family.

His father worked for Coca-Cola and ran health clubs, his mom sold insurance, and he had a stepdad who was a dentist and a stepmom who was an office manager.

Brown's oldest brother was 21 years his senior, so he was exposed to a wide variety of music growing up.

In February of 1995, after being behind the drums for more than 23 years, Sully Erna decided to start a new band. It was only a matter of time before he realized he needed to take charge and step out from behind the kit to front the band himself.

OZZY

Members are Sully Erna - Vocals, Lyrics, Guitar and Percussion. Robbie Merrill - Bass and Backing Vocals Tony Rombola - Guitars and Backing Vocals Shannon Larkin - Drums/Percussion

In February of 1995, after being behind the drums for more than 23 years, Sully Erna decided to start a new band.

It was only a matter of time before he realized he needed to take charge and step out from behind the kit to front the band himself.

One year and a couple of member changes later Godsmack was born. Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill and Tony Rombola hit the studio and recorded their first CD titled All Wound Up.

They did this over one weekend for a measly twenty six-hundred dollars.

Over the next two years, the band played throughout the Boston scene with drummer Joe Darco and began earning a strong reputation of being a great live band.

The noise they were making in the New England area created a snowball effect like no other.

After spending over four years on the road the band decided to take a break before heading back into the studio.

It was during this break that Shannon Larkin, a friend of Sully's for 15 years, formerly of Wrathchild America, AMEN and Ugly Kid Joe, was asked to replace Tommy Stewart.

GODSMACK

Nickelback is a Canadian pop rock band from Hanna, Alberta, Canada formed in 1995. Founded by members Chad

Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and then-drummer Brandon Kroeger.

Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold 30 million records worldwide. Nickelback ranks as the 11th best selling music act of the 2000s, and places as the 2nd best selling foreign act in the US behind The Beatles for the 2000s.

Nickelback’s first release was a seven-track EP called Hesher in 1996. In the same year, Nickelback recorded their first full-length album Curb. “Fly” was released on Hesher and Curb and was the first single produced by Nickelback. It did not chart and was only played on local radio stations.

The following album The State was recorded in 1998 and was released as an independent record the same year. Nickelback signed a record deal with EMI and Roadrunner Records.

The State was then re-released in 2000 by EMI and Roadrunner Records. Two singles from the album, “Leader of Men” and “Breathe” were fairly successful and resulted in the album being certificated gold in Canada and the United States. It was certified Platinum in 2008.
