1. General Review
□ This exhibition is chosen as a promising next-generation exhibition by Ministry of
Commerce, Industry and Energy.
□ Number of participating countries, companies and visitors from overseas increased
thank to government financial supports.
□ It is immensely contributing to promotion of domestic technologies and making
contracts. * Negotiation which has not yet resulted in contracts was 216 billion during the
exhibition and among this, 50 billion is expected to lead to actual business deal.
□ Number of civil servants and buyers with actual buying power are annually increasing
and participating companies fully use the exhibition to promote their products.
□ More than 80% of exhibitors expressed their wishes to attend next year's exhibition
and more than 85% preferred to attend the International Exhibition on Environmental
Technologies among other related exhibitions expressing their satisfaction with sales
results acquired through this exhibition.
2. Future Developmental Plan
□ Next year, the subject of the exhibition will be decided in consultation with the
government.
□ With enhanced promotion efforts, it will attract more overseas buyers and civil
servants with actual buying power and put an effort to draw more exhibitors
including big enterprises and to expand additional events and new items.
□ Ministry of Environment will actively participate in the exhibition playing more
active role.
2

8. Evaluation and Analysis
A . Evaluation on Exhibition Items
□ Items by Sector
- Water quality related items 35. 9%, air quality related items 15. 4%, Measurement /
analyzing tool 15%, waste management 8. 5%, eco-friendly products 5. 8%
- Measurement/ analyzing tool sector was similar to last year and waste
management field showed slight increase.
- Water quality sector was slightly decreased and air quality and eco-friendly products
were a little bit increased presenting items that can easily appeal to general
public.
- Compared to previous year, air quality and eco-friendly sector showed 3% increase
reflecting people and industry's increasing attention.
- In particular, number of companies that participated in the environmental restoration
field have increased to 7 from 4 last year expressing their interests in environmental
prevention.
□ Participating Nations
- 183 domestic and 77 overseas companies participated from 21 countries.
Compared with last year, both the number of participating counties and
companies have increased.
- Japan and China from Asia, the US from North America and Germany and
France from Europe showed high participation rate.
- Korea exhibited many water quality related items and Japan, America and
Germany participated with many measurement and analyzing tools as well as
water quality related items.
13
- Brazil also participated in the exhibition expressing emerging industrial
countries' interest in the Korean market. Promotion effort needs to be carried
out in South America in the future.
B. Evaluation on Participation
□ Participation Rate - Similar to last year, about 29% of exhibitors was newly participating companies.
Thanks to continuous promotion efforts and high interest from the environmental
industry, more and more companies come to the exhibition.
- Participation maintained at similar level since participants are very satisfied
with marketing and promotion results they earned through the exhibition.
□ Scale - Despite overall economic downturn, number of participating companies have
increased reflecting domestic and overseas companies' high interest in the
exhibition.
C. Evaluation on Technology
□ Exhibition
- Technological Level of Exhibitors
. Technological dependency on advanced nation was similar to that of last
year but rate of self-developed technology has slightly increased to 66%
from last year's 63.1% showing technological development of domestic
companies.
. Though currently many companies strive to develop technology through
technological alliance with the government and related organizations, the
government should provide more active support and the industry should
consistently invest in technology.
- Major companies under technical alliance: Japan, America and Germany in
order
- Environmental Movement at Home and Abroad and Information Acquisition ;
The internet and e-mail are increasingly becoming important source of
14
information acquisition and environment-related magazines and newspapers
remain to be important source.
- Environmental Technology Fields to Catch up ;
Last year, Korea legged behind overseas companies in water and air quality
management field in order. Though this year, domestic companies showed
some improvement in the field, they still far legged behind in the fields
of measurement/analyzing tool, alternative energy, R & D and basic
science.
□ Seminar
- Ministry of Energy, Korea Institute of Environmental Science and Technology,
Kotra and Korea Environmental Engineering Federation introduced domestic
technology at the COEX conference center from June 13th to 16th, 2005.
- It has a significant meaning since it was a good opportunity to acquire
information and technology among high interest from environmental
protectors and business people.
□ Invitation of Overseas Buyer
1:1 buyer meetings offered a good chance to introduce Korea's new environmental
technology to invited buyers from Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Central Eastern
Europe and to create sale routs.
D. Analysis on Participating Companies
□ Business Meeting and Contract - During exhibition, some 7,000 business talks (220 companies were surveyed)
worth 216 billion won took place during the exhibition and among this, 50 billion
is expected to lead to actual business deal.
- This exhibition immensely contributed to product sales and new product promotion
of participating companies.
□ Overseas Exhibition
- 75%(similar to last year) of exhibitors expressed their wishes to attend
overseas exhibitions.
15
- In particular, they expressed high interest in the Chinese and Japanese
markets with China(37%), Japan (26%), America(19%) and Europe(16%).
- To promote this, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and Ministry of
Environment need to provide financial support.
□ Companies that want to participate in the 2006 International Exhibition onEnvironmental Technologies(ENVEX2006)
60% of participating companies expressed their wishes to attend the 2006 exhibition
and 35% is under consideration.
□ International Exhibition on Environmental Technologies(ENVEX2005) Chosen as the Most successful Exhibition About 85% of exhibitors chose International Exhibition on Environmental
Technologies as the most successful exhibition expressing their high expectation on
product promotion through this event.
□ Support for Exhibitors and Visitors
- Free internet connection, fax, computers, photocopiers and telephones prepared for
the convenience of exhibitors and visitors received a good response.
- For visitors' convenience, different colors were used for different items such as
water quality, air quality and waste management.
- Business meeting rooms were prepared inside the exhibition hall.
□ Promotion
High attention from media such as public broadcasting, radio, daily newspapers
and specialized magazines was a great help in finding new sales route.
E. Analysis on Visitors

□ Classification according to visiting Purpose
- Those who came only for purchase accounted for 15%. Considerable number of
contracts were made.
- Given the fact that 60% visitors who came for information gathering and
product research can be potential buyers, 75% of exhibition participants
can be regarded as actual buyers.
□ How to Know about Exhibition - 35% of visitors got to know about the exhibition through official documents
sent to related organizations and associations, which shows this exhibition's
