Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Notes
+ In order to understand ourselves and others we must
first know our basic needs.
Basic needs are things you must have to be physically and mentally healthy, such as food, shelter, support and love.
Basic needs are divided into physical needs and psychological needs Physical needs=things you need to survive (food, water,
etc) Psychological needs= emotions and relationships (love,
esteem, sense of worth, approval, etc.)
+Humanist Psychology:
Humanist focus upon potentials.
Humanist do not believe that human being are pushed and pulled by mechanical forces, either of stimuli and reinforcements (behaviorism) or of unconscious instinctual impulses (psychoanalysis).
They believe that humans strive for an upper level of capabilities.
Humans seek the frontiers of creativity, the highest reaches of consciousness and wisdom.
