CONGRATULATIONS to Monsignor on celebrating 44 years of priesthood
last Friday. Also Sydney priests Fr Phil Zadro (PP Haberfield) now Bishop
of Toowoomba, Bishop Robert McGuckin and the late Chris Sheey were or-
dained on the same day in 1973.
FIJI: Monsignor will be absent from this Thursday until Friday 3 November as he is attending the opening of a new school in Naitavuni– 2 hours into the interior & 2 hours from Suva. The school was completely destroyed and through the generosity of a benefactor in Sydney (not from the parish though) a new school has been built (approx $350,000). Mons will also visit the projects which Gymea supports while over there. No Christmas Cards—please do not send Mons cards– a note on a bit of paper would always be fine– and put the dollar saved on the Special Collection we have at Christmas for Fiji. Mons will include all of you and your deceased family members at all Christmas Masses.
Saturday 28 October 730pm we will be hosting another night for Married and
Engaged Couples in the hall organised by the Emmanuel Community (Fr
Josh's Community). Together we will be focussing on The Place of Prayer in
Marriage. We had 7 couples last time, mainly from the parish, so don't be
shy! Those who came last time - if you find it useful, you are welcome to
bring another couple with you! Please RSVP to Mary or Peter via 0435 146
694 or [email protected]. Fr J.

60TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR PARISH NEXT YEAR: We will celebrate this Anniversary on Sunday 11 February at 9.30am Mass with Archbishop Fisher hoping to celebrate. Anyone with historical data or comment, please contact Liz or Mons as an official history will be compiled. The actual Founding Day is 1 February 1958 but delaying a little will allow the school children to be involved. I have engaged historian, Damian Gleeson, to prepare a history of Gymea parish. He is preparing the very early information which is recorded only in the Chancery files. Dates, primary sources, land purchases, Mass centres, early personalities etc will add a new dimension to the already historical productions and brochures of the past. . ANYONE WITH PHOTOS, CLIPPINGS ETC OR SENIOR PARISHIONERS WHO ARE WILLING TO BE INTERVIEWED BE-CAUSE THEY KNOW THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE CHURCH PLEASE CONTACT LIZ . CELEBRANTS FOR MASSES 21/22 OCTOBER: Saturday 5pm: Monsignor Rayner, Sunday 7.30am: Fr Michael Court Sunday 9.30am: Fr Paul Foley, Sunday 4pm: Nuptial Mass, Mons. 6pm: Mons
