Port Jeff Hi g h Offers Expanded Summer Study scholars in Port Jefferson will find a " new look" to the twelfth annual Summer Educational Pro- gram sponsored by the Port Jef- ferson Board of Education. The traditional Summer Hig h School for grades seven-12 will now offer , in addition to the normal lemedial program for stu- dents seeking to raise grades or make up failures , a program of enriched courses for able and in- terested students. Port Jefferson 's Summer H.S. is one of 190 such summer institu- tions licensed by New York State. Port Jeffei-son pioneered summer instruction in Suffolk County and for many years accomodated stu- dents from the entire North Shore area as well as from Eastern Suf- folk Countv. The 1901 Summer Session wil' begin Jul y 5 and terminate August 22. Students in attendance must have the signed approval of their own school princi pal before re- gistration is permitted. Registra- tion is taking p lace at the Vander- meulen IIS in Port Jefferson this week , tomorrow and Satur- day. Classes are conducted— thr"e 80 minute periods—from 8:15 a.m. -12:25 p.m. The enrichment program is de- signed for those students who would like to broaden their know- ledge of a subject area at a higher level than is possible during the regular school year. Certain courses in this program have been added for the benefit of students whose regular academic program does net per- mit their inclusion as electives during the regular school year. In the tug of war class versus class , the winners were for the fourth grade , Mr. Weik' s class , the fifth grade, Mr. Luff' s class , and the sixth grade , Mrs. Larra- bee ' s class. KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION The Blue Point Elementary School kindergarten g.aduation was held for seventy-one gradu- ates June 20 in the school audi- torium. The program was as follows: Selections by the band and processional by the graduates , followed b y the flag salute and the singing of "America " by every- one. The entire class sang the Kin- dergarten Prayer which was fol- lowed by two songs and a dance by each of the three classes. The early mo-ning class sang "Ba-Ba Black Sheep " and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and did the "Dance of Greeting " . The mid-morning class sang "Jack and Jib" and "Sing a Song of Sixpence '' and did the "Shoemaker ' s Dance " . The afternoon class sang "Hickory Dickory Dock" and "Twinkl e , Twinkle Little Star " and did the "Children 's Polka " . They all sang "Iv ' o Been Working on the Rail- road" and "School Days " after which the dip lomas were present- ed by Duane Hawkins , principal. Flowers or gifts were presented to the teachers and the mothers who had assisted with the gradua- tion and then the first g-ade girls presented each of the graduating girls with a little old-fasioned bouquet. The class concluded the program with the "Graduation Song " . John Anderson directed the singing and Miss Hazell Adams accompanied on the p iano. A kindergarten narty followed in the school cafe- teria. BLUE PT. ELEMENTARY Robert Luff' s fifth grade en- joyed a p icnic and cook-out at rieckscher State Park June 21. They enjoyed a soft-ball game and p layed on the gymn equipment. Assisting Mr. Luff and hel ping with the transportation were Mes- dames Mahlan Fechter , William Clarke , Harvey Bumstead , William Webster and Helen Wenner. Last Thursday, Mrs. Helen Pet- ersen ' s third grade class trip tt Heckscher State Park had to be cancelled because of rain. The class held their picnic in the class room. Miss Hazell Adams ' third grade went by bus last Thursda y to the Vanderbilt Museum at Cold Spring- Harbor. They were accompanied by Mesdames William Knapp, Thomas Cochrane , Philip Riz- zu "o and Irwin Lukas. Miss Nora Moehlenbrock' s first grade tri p to Heckscher State Park also had to be cancelled last Thursday because of rain . At noon , when the rain stopped , Miss Moehlenbrock took the children to :he playground at the Sandspit in Patchogue. Movies were shown for an hour , Thursday afternoon in the school auditorium to grades 1-3. Main Street A 29-year-old Patchogue man man suffered head and back in- juries Saturday when the car he was driving was in collision with another auto on West Main Street , near West Avenue , Patchogue. Angelo J. Limoggio of 17 North Summit Street was discharged Sunday from 'Brookhaven Mem- orial Hospital. Other passengers in his car were James L ynch of Hauppauge , Walter Stack of Glen- dale , and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Carlotti of Floral Park. Mrs. Limoggio rushed to the scene from their home after b°ing told by a neighbor of the accident which was investigated by Patrol- man Henry Brechter of the Fifth Precinct , Suffolk County Police. Port Jeff HighOffers ExpandedSummer Studyscholars in Port Jefferson willf ind a "new look" to the twelfthannua l Summer Educational Pro-gram sponsored by the Port Jef-ferson Board of Education.

The traditional Summer HighSchool for grades seven-12 willnow offer , in addition to thenormal lemedial program for stu-dents seeking to raise grades ormake up failures , a program ofenriched courses for able and in-terested students.

Port Jefferson 's Summer H.S.is one of 190 such summer institu-tions licensed by New York State.Port Jeffei-son pioneered summerinstruction in Suffolk County andfor many years accomodated stu-dents from the entire North Shorearea as well as from Eastern Suf-folk Countv.

The 1901 Summer Session wil'begin Jul y 5 and terminate August22. Students in attendance musthave the signed approval of theirown school princi pal before re-gistration is permitted. The Blue Point ElementarySchool kindergar ten g.aduationwas held for seventy-one gradu-ates June 20 in the school audi -to r ium. The program was asfollows: Selections by the bandand processional by the graduates ,fol lowed b y the f lag salute and thesinging of "America" by every-one.

The entire class sang the Kin-dergarten Prayer which was fol-lowed by two songs and a danceby each of the three classes. Theearly m o - n i n g class sang "Ba-BaBlack Sheep" and "Mary Had aLi t t l e Lamb" and did the "Danceof Gree t ing". The mid-morningclass sang "Jack and Jib" and"Sing a Song of Sixpence'' anddid the "Shoemaker's Dance". Theafternoon class sang "HickoryDickory Dock" and "Twinkl e,Twinkle Lit t le Star " and did the"Children 's Polka ". They all sang"Iv 'o Been Working on the Rail-road" and "School Days" af terwhich the dip lomas were present-ed by Duane Hawkins , principal.

Flowers or gifts were presentedto the teachers and the motherswho had assisted wi th the gradua-tion and then the f i r s t g-ade girlspresented each of the g r a d u a t i n ggirls with a little old-fasionedbouquet.

The class concluded the programwith the "Graduation Song". JohnAnderson directed the singing andMiss Hazell Adams accompaniedon the piano. A kindergartennarty followed in the school cafe-teria.

A 29-year-old Patchogue manman suffered head and back in-juries Saturday when the car hewas driving was in collision withanother auto on West Main Street,near West Avenue , Patchogue.

Angelo J. Limoggio of 17 NorthSummit Street was dischargedSunday from 'Brookhaven Mem-orial Hospital. Other passengersin his car were James Lynch ofHauppauge, Walter Stack of Glen-dale , and Mr. and Mrs. FrederickCarlotti of Floral Park.

Mrs. Limoggio rushed to thescene from their home after b°ingtold by a neighbor of the accidentwhich was investigated by Patrol-man Henry Brechter of the F i f t hPrecinct, Suffolk County Police.

The Brookhaven Town Recrea-tion Department has scheduled aseries of swimming instructionalclasses to be held at variousbeaches throughout the town inthe coming weeks, according toits director, James E. Reese.

A staff of qualified personnelwill be on hand to direct the ac-tivities. Classes will be held forboth beginning and advancedswimmers as well. It is belieyedthat an extensive progi'am of thistype will aid greatly in promotingsafety and fun throughout therecreational areas of the town.
