Who would benefit from a Middle College High School?

• Students who feel disconnected from a traditional high school environment.

• Students who would thrive in a small school that offers extensive support from teachers and campus faculty.

• Learners who are ready to return to high school, need a different setting in which to recover credits, and graduate faster than at a traditional high school.

• Those for whom a better fit would be a more intimate environment that provides structure, stability, person-alized support, and a mature, college-going culture.

What is a Middle College?

• Middle College High School (MCHS) is a high school that is located on a community college campus and accepts no more than 160 students.

• Our students have an opportunity to not only earn their high school diploma, but also earn college credit or workforce training through Houston Community Col-lege (HCC)!

• We serve young adults ages 14 - 24.

What does Middle College High School @ HCC Gulfton offer

students? • Reduced student to teacher ratio

• School hours are 9:15 a.m. - 5:00p.m.

• Overaged students may graduate in one semester

• All instructors are highly qualified and meet the individual learning needs of students

• Dual credit opportunities through HCC @ various locations

• Earn .5 credit every 9 weeks

• Hands on learning

• A laptop issued for every student

• Instructors integrate technology into daily lesson

• Online credit recovery and Saturday Credit Recov-ery available

• Communities In Schools Assistance with child care

• HISD transportation provided

• 26 and 22 credit diploma offered

• Opportunities for parent involvement.

A Chance to take College Classes • MCHS at Gulfton offers a student-centered learning envi-

ronment for high school students providing them the op-portunity to earn college credit, become job ready and acquire skills necessary to become lifelong learners.

• MCHS partners with Houston Community College (HCC) to provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit and high school credit through concurrent enrollment with HCC while still in high school.

• We provide assistance with college applications, FAFSA applications, Apply Texas applications, and many other college/career transitions.

• Get to know what careers are available for you to learn and train to become either from college or workforce courses!

• Enjoy and learn vast opportunities through scholastic field trips that will inspire you to do your best and look forward to all the world has to offer!
