If not, now is a great time to make a Will and get your financial affairs in order. Please consider leaving the parish in your Will. Wisdom of the Saints

Then the Lord opened my mind and senses to the nature of my unbelief so that I may—however—remember my sins and turn with all my heart to the Lord my God. He turned His attention to my abject humility and took pity on my youth and ignorance. He watched over me and protected me before I knew Him and be-fore I was wise enough to distinguish between good and evil. He strengthened and comforted me as a father consoles a son.

—St. Patrick Keep a holy simplicity. Remain perfectly at peace, certain that God makes it His business to make you successful.

—St. Raphaela Maria Porras

Sanctity of Life Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat

Rachel’s Vineyard retreat for those who have experienced an abortion is May 13-15 or Sept 9-11, 2016. Call Cheryl Riley at 973-497-4350 for more info. Confidential. Natural Family Planning Information Night God has created marriage, a holy union, to mirror His supreme love on earth. At the heart of their married love is the total gift of self that husband and wife freely offer to each other. Because of their sexual difference, husband and wife can truly become “one flesh.” Through the lan-guage of their bodies, their sexual union recalls their vows: giving themselves to one another in love that is total, faith-ful, and life-giving. This call to love is to follow Christ himself, who handed himself totally over for his bride, the Church. Spouses imitate him by giving the entirety of themselves to one another, including the gift of their fertil-ity and their openness to new life. Natural Family Plan-ning methods are scientifically proven approaches to help a couple postpone or achieve pregnancy in a way that pre-serves the true, complete self-gift between husband and wife, the kind of love that brings real, lasting joy and peace. When we embrace God’s plan for human sexuality and marriage and follow Jesus, we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives in a powerful way. To learn more, or to hear questions others have asked, please come to an informa-tional session given by the Coordinator of Natural Family Planning for the Family Life Office, Jill Cherrey.

WE ARE LIVING STONES Joint Capital Campaign

4 Year Goal: $590,000.00 Pledged: $159,011.00

WE ARE LIVING STONES CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEWS

In conjunction with the Archdiocese we are launching a Capi-tal Campaign to raise funds for the painting of the church interi-or, repairing of the pews, refinishing the doors, and replacing the roof and façade of the rectory, and maybe even a new AC for the church. In the coming weeks we will hear from fellow parishioners about the importance of giving to the Campaign which benefits both the parish and the greater Church. You are also invited to visit the parish website, holytrini-ty1861.org, where there is a link to the W e are Living

Stones website, and there you can make a pledge. Be sure to desig-nate Holy Trinity Church, Hack-ensack. That is very important so that we receive our due portion of the campaign.

The We Are Living Stones Committee

A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS Father, You invite each one of us by name and ask us to follow you. We ask that you bless your Church in the Archdiocese of Newark by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our families and friends who will faithfully serve your people as Priests, Religious Brothers and Sisters, and as holy Married and Single people. Inspire us to grow in our relationship with you and open our hearts to accept your invitation. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

C ome to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life (Isaiah 55:3). This week I want to announce the beginning of an important journey of deepening our Christian

faith in our parish. Our culture continues to eat away at our faith life through all of the messages that tell us we do not need to bother that much about religion. We are living in a time where a secular way of life is presented to us as the answer to our strug-gles and difficulties – a path that easily leads us to a deep unhap-piness through reliance on materialism, relativism, and mere accumulation of wealth. Our lives are met with all sorts of events that stream by us, events that we cannot control and we are confronted with situations and decisions that can weary us and cause suffering and a loss of hope. Why is this happening to me? Why is someone I love suffering so much? What is my life about anyway? Where am I going? The ultimate answers to these questions is in Christianity which in the final analysis is not about rules and regulations, about do’s and don’ts, but about an encounter, a meeting with a Person, Jesus Christ. The journey of which I speak is a journey which begins Monday night, April 18 at 8 PM in the Convent (20 Pangborn Place). It is a journey to deepen faith and to dis-cover who this Jesus is and what difference it makes in our lives to know Christ. As Catholic Christians, on our journey of life, on our journey of faith, we realize that we never "arrive", we never are able to say "Now I am finally a Christian!" We are always on a journey through the events of our lives where we mature in discovering and experiencing the love God has for us. So if you are wondering what is happening in your life, if you are seeking a path that will help you to discover the mean-ing of your life, if you have often desired to really encounter Jesus Christ in the reality of your life, then I most enthusiastical-ly invite you to our Catechesis to begin an itinerary of faith, of discovering the deeper meaning of your Baptism. The Catechesis will be given each Monday and Thursday at 8 PM for about one hour. The " Catechesis" is an exper ience of the significance of what it means to be a Christian in today's times. These are not just lectures but rather an opportunity to experience the Good News of Christ as directly relevant to our lives. Everyone is wel-come – those with faith, those who question their faith and those without faith, those baptized and those who have not yet been baptized, those who may have left the Church, those who have wondered about whether this is the time to return. I invite you and encourage you to come and listen to these catecheses. Maybe there is someone you know, whom God has placed in your life specifically for you to invite them to come and listen to the Catechesis. Maybe it is someone who does not believe the Church can offer them happiness in their struggles. Maybe it is an occasion for you to be bold and auda-cious and invite them and bring them and listen with them. It is an opportunity to grow in an adult experience of your faith, to rediscover what it means to be a Christian, to find peace in the midst of your doubts and crises and to embrace the love and hope of Christ in your life. I welcome you then to just COME AND LISTEN.

Pax Christi, Fr. Paul
