JULY FAMILY NIGHT CAMP MEETING Originally camp meetings were held in frontier areas, where people without regular preachers would travel on occasion from a large region to a particular site to “camp out”, listen to itinerant preachers, pray, and sing hymns. Camp meetings offered the feeling of community, often singing and other music, sometimes dancing, and diver- sion from work. Word of mouth told the meeting at a certain location. Due to the primitive means of transportation, if the meet- ing was to be more than a few miles’ distance from the homes of those attending, they would need to stay at the revival for its entire duration. Thus the need for camping. The camp meeting offered a break from daily routines and provided a means for the community to enjoy fellow- ship through worship. Please join us as we celebrate the “camp meeting” at July Family Night on Wednesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center Fellowship Hall. Children’s News

Thanks to our June leaders for Children's Church: Kaylee & Brenton Alexander, Gabrielle & John Alexander and Mary & Josh Warden. Children's church is for ages 3 to K5. We have been having a lot of children attend this activity. The children and youth gave out keychain flashlights to the men of our church for Father's Day this year. If you didn't get one, please let us know. The children's summer activity for June had to be altered due to weather; rather than swimming, they made a trip to the Alti-tude Trampoline Park in Gulfport followed by lunch at Chick-fil-A. We had 11 children, 2 youth helpers and plenty of adults. Everyone had a great time. Thank you, Kaylee and Gabrielle, for making the plans and driving. Thanks to Kaylee Alexander, Schuylar Webb, Noelle King, and Emma Warden for doing the activities with the children. Also, thanks to Rev. Dayna, Michele King, Dawn Somers and Mary Warden for being watch-ful eyes and ears.

The big event in July will be "Hero Central" Vacation Bible School beginning July 9 and ending July 13. Children that are rising K5 to those that have completed 5th grade are invited. Please bring your children and invite other children to come!

I’ve received this poem via e-mail on numerous occasions and thought I would share it with you.

It has a powerful message! I’ve never seen an author listed, but his or her words remind me that

God presence is made known to us in varied ways—if we only slow ourselves enough to recog-

    nize it.

    “God’s Blessings”

The man whispered "God, speak to me"

    and a meadowlark sang.

But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled "God speak to me!"

And the thunder rolled across the sky.

But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said "God let me see you."

    And a star shone brightly.

But the man did not notice.

And the man shouted "God show me a miracle"

    and a life was born.

But the man did not know.

So, the man cried out in despair. "Touch me God and let me know that you are here!"

Whereupon God reached down and touched the man.

But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

As these summer days fly by, my prayer is that we each take time to experience God in

all the ways God intends. Such “glory-sightings” are meant to be shared, so share your realiza-

tion of God’s presence with others! Be sure to pray daily for our upcoming VBS (July 9-13) and

for members of the ‘Way Forward’ Commission, as well as our ongoing prayer list. May God’s

wonders astound and amaze you! And may we, in all things, give God the glory and praise!!!

Hope to see you and your family in worship and Sunday school this week.

    Peace & Joy, --Rev. Dayna

Dayna

Dayna

    JULY FAMILY NIGHT CAMP MEETING

Originally camp meetings were held in frontier areas,

where people without regular preachers would travel on

occasion from a large region to a particular site to “camp

out”, listen to itinerant preachers, pray, and sing hymns.

Camp meetings offered the feeling of community, often

singing and other music, sometimes dancing, and diver-

    sion from work.

Word of mouth told the meeting at a certain location.

Due to the primitive means of transportation, if the meet-

ing was to be more than a few miles’ distance from the

homes of those attending, they would need to stay at the

revival for its entire duration. Thus the need for camping.

The camp meeting offered a break from daily routines

and provided a means for the community to enjoy fellow-

    ship through worship.

Please join us as we celebrate the “camp meeting” at July

Family Night on Wednesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the

Family Life Center Fellowship Hall. In the spirit of the

camp meeting please bring your favorite picnic food to

In the spirit of the

camp meeting please bring your favorite picnic food to

share. There will be lots of fellowship, fun, and favorite

hymns! We hope to see you there!

Dayna
