Thanks to all those parents who attended our AGM on
Tuesday the 19th of February. The session on supporting
your children to be the best readers they can be was very
informative and interesting. Thanks to Cristy Hart who
stayed back to present the session. Cristy is very happy
to run another session that will be a bit longer and
expand on specific strategies for interested parents. We
will send an expression of interest form home in the near
future and if we have enough interest we will schedule
some sessions.
It was fabulous that we had so many people stay for the
AGM. Thankyou to the brave new parents who
nominated to join the Governing Council.
Congratulations to the following people who are either
continuing their service or are newly elected and form
our 2019 Council. We really appreciate your interest and
commitment to support the effective running of the
school. Congratulations to the people who were elected
to the Governing Council Executive positions.

borrowed and return them to us as soon as possible.
We are desperately in need of donations of certain items

donate them to us, we would be very appreciative:
Navy Track pants/ Leggings Sizes 4, 6 , 8 , 10 & 12

GROW WELLBEING PROGRAM
Student Wellbeing Leader - Amber Arruzzolo
Just a reminder for any families that have expressed
interest in accessing the program that reminder letters
went out last week regarding the information that is
needed. It is essential that permission forms are filled in
and copies of Mental Health Care Plans are provided to
the Front Office. There will be a waiting list for any of
these expressions of interest where paperwork hasn’t
been returned.
This program is set to start in the next two weeks so it
will initially be directed at those families that have
already given the required information. We look forward
to offering this service to our families here at Salisbury
Heights Primary School.

Sports Day Update
Congratulations to the students who have been voted as House Captains for 2019. As Sports
Day is only 5 weeks away they have a big job ahead of them in first learning the Health
Hustle and then teaching the whole school. I wish all teams the best of luck in the coming
weeks and I’m looking forward to working alongside such a great bunch of students to make
Sports Day run as smooth as possible.

Descriptive Writing in room 33
In Room 33, we have been using description bubbles to write
creative and detailed descriptions. We know descriptions are a
really important part of narrative writing. We will use the skill of
writing effective descriptions in our narratives in the coming weeks.

"Excellence and Care"
Using our descriptive writing skills, we wrote this narrative as a class.
A Day in the Life of a Diminutive and Starving Squirrel
Early in the morning, a solitary falcon with turquoise, piercing eyes,
was skimming the top of the trees, hunting for prey. Meanwhile, a
starving, diminutive, bronze coloured squirrel with a bushy brown
tail was scavenging for mouth-watering nuts in the gloomy forest.
All of a sudden, the snow white falcon with claws as sharp as razor
blades swooped down and picked the petrified and surprised
squirrel up by his silky tail.
'Oh no, I'm done for!' thought the trembling squirrel.
Out of nowhere, a singular, territorial and substantially sized eagle
with golden, outstretched wings recognised that the falcon, who
was ready to eat his dinner, was grasping a horrified squirrel with
his extra pointy claws.
Out of the blue, the outraged eagle swooped in from the really
cloudy sky to save the petite squirrel, who was starting to feel faint.
As the eagle glided down, he physically and fiercely attacked the
falcon, who was forced to drop the relieved squirrel back into his
natural habitat, where he was thrilled to see the breath taking
views of his home.
Later, the massive eagle explained to the falcon
'It's good you dropped the harmless squirrel, it's not good to eat
other animals! Go somewhere else!’
The squirrel was delighted to be safe and was thankful to the kind
eagle for rescuing him. After his dramatic day, the squirrel
decided to go back to foraging for delicious, crunchy acorns on
the forest floor.
