WHAT ACT OF MERCY WILL YOU PERFORM TODAY? …& every day? Although most of us will not be able to pass through one of Winnipeg’s six Holy Doors everyday, we are given an amazing alternative - perform one of 14 Works of Mercy. There are 7 that see to the physical/material needs of our neighbour and 7 that attend to the spiritual needs. What are they you ask? Well…

Spiritual Works… Corporal works... - Teach the ignorant - Feed the hungry - Counsel the doubtful - Give drink to the thirsty - Admonish sinner - Clothe the naked - Bear wrongs patiently - Give a home to the homeless - Forgive offences willingly - Visit the sick - Comfort the afflicted - Ransom the captives - Pray for the living and the dead - Bury the dead

Perhaps there are various ways that we can apply or interpret these works in our present Winnipeg society... “captive” may also be those enslaved to addiction, “burying the dead” - give loved ones a

proper funeral, or attend a funeral; “admonishing” is done discretely and in humility, etc.
