First teaching assignment I had Spent much volunteer time there as a teenager Where I realized Student Support was a passion –
even after an audit! Where I will do my first full time Student Support
position
Use of course wiki and creating one of my own = huge highlights!
Last year I had 4 assignments within one school - time was precious, often left me scrambling to
prepare- not much time for professional development
opportunities- difficult to find time on my own to learn about
tech tools that our school already had Online tutorials and videos we have been exposed
to have and will develop my confidence = Professional Development at own pace!!
Exposure to tech resources gives me the confidence to take on the leadership role that is expected of me
Personal/Professional Growth
Tech Tools / Resources...that will make a BIG difference are: More knowledge about Kurzweil – will add more
variety to my programs, now have confidence to teach students about it = happy and engaged learners!
Boardmaker – use with Life skills group, often challenges with transitions between activities
Google Chrome and add ons (text-to-speech, speech-to-text, etc.) – give students better access to curriculum. In past, the SST pulled vulnerable learners out of classes for Social Studies and Science due to decoding skills and written output. Goal: to have them participate with their peers, using such tech tools
My Wiki For the schoolHope to link it to school websiteOften asked about access to and information
about Boardmaker, Clicker 5, etc. – Never quick enough for colleagues as they tend to need information right away, which I cannot always give
My goal is to create a “go to” place for EAs/Teachers to seek information about a resource/tool to inform their practice, to support a child or ideas for planning – does not replace me, but is instant if necessary
Most developed in Student Support Resources, but aiming to build in other areas of the curriculum also – Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Life skills, especially
