This is what we are

EnglishUsing fiction and non-fiction texts to learn about mini beasts.Read and write words and simple sentences. Use a capital letter to start a sentence and a full stop to end. Continue to trace, copy and write each letter of the alphabet.Write first name and surname.

MathsReading, writing, counting and ordering the numbers to 20.Finding 1 more and 1 less for the numbers to 20. Solve addition and subtraction problems using counters, number lines etc. Continue to double and halve the numbers to 10.

Learning Challenges-Are all mini- beasts scary? The children will learn about different mini- beasts. They will find and observe mini beasts and describe what they see. They will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly.

We will also visit Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden to conduct a

PSHE / SEALGolden rule- We listen- we don’t interrupt.

Seal- Relationships.

Don’t forget you can find out what your child does each day through Tapestry. We’ve also loved finding out about the children’s learning at home through your Wow Moment slips. Please keep sending these in, the children love sharing their achievements with us.

Bug Club

Don’t forget you can complete extra reading at home using the

Bug Club website. If you have lost your log in details please don’t

hesitate to ask. Please let us know if you need extra books adding.

Working with your child at home.

Please continue reading with your child and recording this in the reading record. Please send books into school each day in their book bag so extra reading can take place.

Mrs Andrews’ and Mrs Gorman’s Letters and Sounds group are now receiving weekly word lists each Friday. Please work on reading and spelling these words at home. These will be tested on the following Friday. Please make sure the book is kept in your child’s bag and handed in each Friday.

Ugly Bug Ball

On Tues 23rd May we will be having an Ugly Bug Ball to celebrate our learning about mini beasts. It would be great if the children could come dressed as a mini-beast for the day e.g. spider, butterfly,

ladybird.

Begin to read and write digraphs- sh, ch and th.

mini-beast hunt and workshop. Please look out for a letter with full details.

Have a look in our window to see our caterpillars develop.

Art and DesignThe children will use clay and other malleable materials to create mini beasts.

R.E.Friendship-The children will explore the value of Friendship. They will read stories from the Bible about Jesus’ disciples.

Special Places- The children will explore their own and other’s special places. They will learn about places of worship such as churches, cathedrals, mosques and temples.

P.E.P.E. will be taught by the Healthy Heroes team each Friday. The children will develop their athletic and games skills.

MusicThe children will take part in music and movement sessions with Mrs Longstaff.
