ADD TITLES

For your projects, you will need to have titles to display the names of your interview subjects (lower thirds). In order to have a cohesive look to all news items, this information needs to be placed in a graphic template.

1. Create new titles: Create a title from scratch, or use a copy of an existing title as a starting point. Choose Title > New Title> Choose a title type, “Default still” In a pop up window name a title and click OK. And you will see a title window like this.

Position the cursor where you want the title to be. Type your title. Select the Selection tool, or hit V to move the textbox around. Go to the Title Style pane at the bottom. Select a style. Remember you have ample

chances to change your styles afterwards. In the Title Properties panel, adjust the following:

- Position- Font- Strokes: Outer stroke one click is safe. - Shadow: Select color, add distance.

Move the title file around on the timeline. You can re-open the title window by double click.

2. Creating a lower third title

Lower third titles are the most common type of text information in visual stories. They are used for interviewee’s titles or captions.

Again, choose Title > New title > Default still Select T and write the name, Barbara Dash Select the color. White or Yellow are common lower third colors. Add Outer stroke, edge Add Shadow, adjust angle and distance. Now, copy the exact same texts by Option + drag Change the text by typing, “Greyhound owner”. Align left by using the Alignment tool. Reduce font size Add background. Use a Rectangular shape. Choose color. Right click and send the shape backward. Adjust opacity. If you like the title file, duplicate a file for the next use.

*For your exercise1) Import a new video file, “Interview, benefits of greyhounds”2) Create a lower third caption, “Mary Conway, Greyhound trainer”3) Use a round rectangle.

3. Create a crawling caption This time, choose Title > New title > Default crawl Select the position and select T. Type in captions. “Greyhounds are affectionate but easy. They don’t do things other dogs

do like digging and chewing.”

4. Create a rolling credit This time, choose Title > New title > Default roll Don’t forget to select Roll/crawl option at the top. And select Start off screen and Finish

off screen. Let’s type Director, Producer, Camera, Narrator

Right align Duplicate, by Option drag. Type in names. Add special thanks. Adjust the speed by dragging the title file left and right.

EXPORT AND PUBLISH

1. Export Every time you complete an item, export two video files – H.264 and MP4 file.

Make sure you don’t have any unnecessary files on the timeline.

Save your project (CTRL+S). Select timeline From the top menu, choose File-Export-

Media….or Cmd+M On Format, Select H.264 On Preset, Select Youtube 720p HD Type in output name Make sure you select the right place to

export your project. Make sure both Export video and audio

are checked. Make sure entire sequence is checked. Export! Play your MP4 file in the selected folder. Check place to re-edit and retouch.

2. Using Media Encoder and Queue option If you use Queue and open up Adobe

media encoder, you can produce different format project at the same time.

Simply drag and drop.

PUBLISH ON YOUTUBE

You should have a Youtube account.

Click upload on the right hand corner of your Youtube page. Select publish and public option. Add title and 2-4 hashtags. Send the URL link to the instructor. You will need Embed HTML code to upload your project on your digital portfolio. If you wanna delete your project, go to creator studio of Youtube, select video manager >

edit > delete.
