They were careful enough to change the amount to the extent as would be available in the Bank accounts of their victims. This they would know by checking the bank statements of their victims which are rendered by their victims as part of necessary documents. The cheques of petty amount would be of “self” thus there would be no need to have a Bank Account in order to encash such cheques. Ajay would first of all would obtain a blank signed cheque of “self” from the victim and then would enter petty amount of Rs. 100/- using his special pen. Later he would erase the aforesaid amount and would re-enter the amount just enough to cover the amount available in the bank account of the victim. The wife of Deepak i.e. Shobhna is still at large. However Deepak incurred heavy loss in his business and in search of some job he shifted to Delhi. He went to many banks to obtain the loan but in vain. Meanwhile this idea of obtaining cheques of petty amount from loan-seekers and changing them to extract money from their amount struck him.
