TTHE QAS Members Christmas Art Competition/Exhibition has been brought about by the

success of the Book Sales/Bring and BuyBook Sales/Bring and Buy. These two Society events have been ongoing and have assured a great deal of stability in finances so without a sponsor for this popular event QAS has been able to back this members’ event. Members have responded to the final Art Competition/Exhibition for 2018 which will hang for two months because of the big holiday break over January 2019 and 145 works 145 works were entered. As usual the QAS Christmas Party QAS Christmas Party was a huge ‘Buzz’ and a big thanks to Karen and Patricia for ‘The ‘The Art’ Art’ of making it feel just like Christmas. The Society members and friends gathered in numbers and were thankful to have the extra room with the new Working Gallery proving a valuable addition for such a function. There was a monster Christmas BBQ and sweets and Master Cook John John Burston Burston had his work cut out keeping the onions up to the mass! It was one of the largest Christmas Parties held at the Gallery and it has been a huge year for a hard working committee. As one member said, it was a wonderful gathering for a great year!

MMY palette is not large enough to thank everyone who in some way became part of QAS

success in 2018. It has been a flawless year and it was pleasing for me to see our Art Society continued to give to our members. Members can be pleased that the QAS Committee continues to look after the members’ needs. We are lucky the committee has many talented people to govern our needs and are always willing to take members advice to improve QAS. In saying this I wish to thank the committee on behalf of the members for their time and efforts! My right hand ‘man’ Rosanna has been on the spot all this time. Our new Working Gallery has been a delight to work in and many thanks to the NSW Government and the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council for the financial assistance. This year’s QAS Annual Art Show in City Walk, Canberra has put us in a good position for future events, the profits have been invested to pay for next year. Our sales in the QAS Gallery, Plaza Window and City Walk

have been a record and the Society has handed out more prize money than ever before.
