• Publish and query vocabularies via common tools, storage formats, and access/update mechanisms.

• Initial focus on the 'LexBIG' software project, managed as a common open source code base in support of NCI Enterprise Vocabulary Services (EVS) and the National Center of Biomedical Ontology (NCBO) BioPortal.

Possible Contributions

LexWIKI Collaborative Authoring Tools• Code in support of an open source

distributed platform for collaborative terminology authoring based on Semantic MediaWiki technology.

• Potential submissions will be based on software developed in support of World Health Organization (WHO) authoring of ICD11 and NCI Biomedical Grid Terminology (BiomedGT) content development.

Natural Language Processing

• Potential submissions will include open source distribution of natural language parsing algorithms and text annotators.

• Prior open source efforts in this area have been implemented as plug-ins to IBM's open source Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) framework.
