Cross industry collaboration

• Airservices and Defence are represented at both the Australian Aviation Policy Group (APG) and Aviation Implementation Group (AIG)

APG• Group members are: CASA Director of Aviation Safety, the Chief

Executive Officer of Airservices, the Chief of Air Force and the Secretary of the Department of Infrastructure

• Chief Commissioner of the ATSB also attends as an observerAIG• A steering group for ICAO matters• an important forum for identifying cross-portfolio aviation issues and

for identifying higher-level issues to pass on to the APG

Current partnership with Defence

• Understanding of the need for closer cooperation and greater integration

• Australian Civil-Military Committee (AC-MAC)• MOU in place to detail the key underpinning principles of working

together• One joint facility – Perth TCU, established 2006• Separate operating systems with limited interoperability

Future partnership and OneSKY

• The current Airservices and Defence ATM systems have served Australian airspace users well for many years, but have limited interoperability and separate regulatory systems

• Once in a generation opportunity – both the Australian military and civilian air traffic management systems are approaching their end of life and require replacement

• Both Airservices and Defence will need to complete system replacement with minimal disruption to industry
