These brief document excerpts relate the themes of the new AP U.S. History Course Framework to the content within the chapter. The feature includes questions that connect to the skills.

Chapter Learning Objectives for each main section of the chapter correlate to the Key Concepts of the AP U.S. History Course Framework. These objectives serve as a guide for the student learner to the chapter’s main topics and themes.

Extensive Chapter Summary and Review questions are based on the chapter learning objectives, key concepts and themes from the AP U.S. History Course Framework. Writing about history continues the focus of the pedagogical program.

Each of the nine parts of the text conclude with a full AP Practice Test. Using primary source documents, images, and cartoons, the tests include multiple-choice questions, short essays, and long essays to mirror the AP exam. A full Document-Based Question is available on the Pearson MyLab website to complete the Practice Test for each part.

A wealth of supportive supplementsA new annotated Teacher’s Edition includes detailed annotations authored by Stacie Brensilver. Annotations appear in the text next to the topic under discussion. There are three forms of annotations for the teacher: History Disciplinary Practices and History Reasoning Skills, Classroom Activities, and A Deeper Look (websites and questions for more detailed study). Key Concepts and Subtopics, along with the associated Thematic Learning Objectives, appear in each chapter at the appropriate point.

The Instructor’s Resource Manual contains key concepts, learning objectives, chapter outlines and summaries that cover each section in the text, discussion questions, suggested activities, videos for flipped classes, suggested readings, and a quick review and chapter review answer key. This resource is downloadable for teachers within MyLab History.

A new AP Exam Style Test Bank includes questions formatted to mirror the AP Exam, containing an abundance of document- and image-based multiple-choice questions, correlated to each chapter and part in the textbook. Short- and long-answer questions are included at the end of each part. Answers are tagged according to topic, AP concept, and Learning Objective, with page numbers provided for easy reference.
