BP is one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world and has had an upstream presence in Oman since 2007. BP is a major investor in Oman and one of the world’s pioneers in tight gas production, bringing technology and experience to develop one of the Middle East’s largest unconventional gas resources. We are committed to investing and developing in Omani capability.

In December 2013, the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and BP signed a gas sales agreement and an amended production sharing agreement for the development of the Khazzan Project in Block 61. The agreements were ratified in February 2014, in a Royal Decree issued by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.

Block 61 is operated by BP Oman (60%) in partnership with Oman Oil Company for Exploration and Production (40%). The full field development of the Khazzan Project will involve a drilling programme of around 300 wells over 15 years to deliver plateau production of one billion cubic feet (28.3 million cubic meters) of gas per day. This volume is equivalent to an increase of around a third of Oman’s total daily of domestic gas supply. Construction work for the Khazzan Project, located in the South of Block 61, has commenced and first gas is expected in late 2017.

BP Oman’s Social Investment Programme is a unique model that works towards serving and empowering local Omani capabilities in driving Oman towards a self-sufficient and progressive future. It has two main areas of focus:

The Khazzan Community Investment Programme is targeted at Block 61 and the nearest neighboring communities.

The Oman Sustainable Development Programme is a contribution by BP and its Block 61 partner to the wider development of Omani people at a national level. These initiatives aim to support national priorities on the development of Omani people, economic diversification and job creation.

The Social Investment Programme delivers projects under three main themes - enterprise development, education and energy sustainability– as well as a series of smaller Quick Impact Investments.

Enterprise Development Projects

The BP Oman Social Investment Programme’s Enterprise Development Projects focus on the development of start-up businesses, providing business planning and assisting with financing to sustain national and regional growth. The aim is to develop the employment landscape for enterprises and entrepreneurs. This will in-turn expand Oman’s In-Country Value and support diverse economic growth through co-creating sustainable values. The projects have provided development opportunities for over 300 individuals and more than 20 enterprises.

The Enterprise Development Projects are managed through ‘implementing partners’ – leading Omani organizations whose role is to co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of BP Oman’s social investments. They include main partner, Sharakah, and associate partners, Ministry of Social Development, Public Authority of Handicraft and Industry, Busafi Design, Lighthouse LLC, Inspired Solutions and bayantebyan.

Project highlights include:

My Profession

220 individuals from ten regions have been the focus of a training project that aimed to build handicraft skills for an employment purposes for families with special needs and who depend upon social security. This is the first project of its kind to be delivered at this scale.

Delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and the Public Authority of Handicraft and Industry.

Khazzan Growth Finance Programme

24 businesses in the Ad Dakhliya and Ad Dhahira regions have benefited from branding workshops, business planning training and cash flow training with 20 due to be selected to receive a BP Oman grant. This is the first convertible grant, impact-investing project to focus on growth and markets.

Khazzan Business Mentoring and Development for Small Enterprises

1,100 entrepreneurs from across the Sultanate have been the subject of a large-scale psychometric and behavioural study to assess skills and capabilities. This exceeds the original target set of 500 and is the largest study delivered with the Entrepreneurial Value Index tool.

Khazzan Annual Entrepreneurship Competition

21 colleges and universities from across the Sultanate have taken part in Injaz Oman’s ‘Sharikati’ programme. It is a student educational competition that aims to promote entrepreneurship and boost employment among the young. Based on the Sharikati programme, a mini-series is being produced with 10 episodes reflecting the educational and entrepreneurial values taught through the programme. The show will be aired through YouTube.

Education Projects

The BP Oman Social Investment Programme’s Education projects focuses on educational projects that build entrepreneurship and leadership among young people. This includes providing vocational training, workshops in entrepreneurship skills and engaging leadership skills through hands-on activities to motivate the young. It also includes assisting young adults with higher education and employment, as well as implementing BP Oman’s adventure training programme and a road safety initiative for families. Over 3,000 young individuals have been reached through these projects, receiving assistance and employment opportunities and an average of over 900 contact hours each.

The main implementing partner was Injaz Oman, together with associate implementing partners: Youth Vision, ASM Technologies, Outward Bound Oman and the Oman Road Safety Association.

In addition to these Education Projects, BP Oman is working with Oman Sail to provide leadership, teamwork and communications skills. This is an experientially based, multi-activity training programme that works on interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and problem solving skills. The programme also trains apprentices from Al Dhakiliya and Ad Dhahira by empowering them with skills in sailing, business and facilitation skills.

Project highlights include:

Khazzan Vocational Training and Employability

50 young people, mainly from Ad Dakhliya and Ad Dhahira, were trained in how to use digital media, in particular virtual and augmented reality. Some 90% of trainees were female and the training took place at the SAS Virtual Reality center. This was the first private sector-sponsored initiative on this subject in the oil and gas sector.

Khazzan Youth Development and Training

Over seventy 18-24 year olds from Ad Dakhliya and Ad Dhahira took part in four innovative Outward Bound courses held in the deserts and mountains of Oman. This was the first outdoors focused training and participants learned leadership and problem solving skills as they faced a number of challenges.

Khazzan Careers Education

1,000 students were provided with vocational training covering leadership, problem solving, business and entrepreneurial skills. This was a career guidance initiative that was the largest project focused on preparedness for the working world.

Khazzan Road Safety Initiative

600 school students - from fifth to tenth grade - took part in the ORSA Buckle Up campaign designed to improve road safety in the Sultanate. Awareness was raised of the importance of seatbelts and child restraints with workshops taking place in Muscat, Ad Dakhliya and Ad Dhahira Governorates.

Delivered in partnership with the Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA).

Khazzan Young Adventurers Project

120 students took part in BP Oman’s long-running and award-winning adventure training and personal development initiative. During this they had to face a number of challenges designed to test resilience and adaptability.

BP Young Leaders Programme

1,400 young people – mainly from Ad Dakhliya and Ad Dhahira – have been taking part in three-day training courses designed to build leadership skills. This is an experiential, multi-activity programme based on sailing skills and challenges. It is designed to enhance and develop interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and problem solving skills. From this initiative, five Omanis have subsequently been trained for BP Oman progammes. Delivered in partnership with Oman Sail.

BP Apprentice Programme

Over 500 young Omanis were approached with a view to recruiting a small number as facilitators for the BP Young Leaders Programme. A total of 105 interviews were carried out and eight people eventually selected to facilitate the BP Young Leaders programme.

Energy SustainabilityProjects

BP places significant emphasis on sustainability in the countries in which it operates. Oman has considerable potential for sustainable energy development, and BP plans to leverage that potential. One of BP Oman’s sustainability projects involves the setting up of a training centre in co-operation with the National Training Institute.

The state of the art Technician Training Centre is equipped with actual size, world-class equipment so that technicians get hands-on experience in a safe environment under the supervision and guidance of trained instructors.

Quick Impact Investments

BP Oman’s Quick Impact Investments include supporting sustainable initiatives to aid and empower local communities and projects. These Impact Investments include:

Women’s first aid heart savers training course

Six local Block 61 community stakeholders were trained on first aid heart saving techniques. This investment is in line with BP Oman’s HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) community engagement goals.

Delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

Drilling fluid and cementing workshop

A workshop was delivered to for cementing specialists, well engineers, OCG members, and standards organization experts on GCC drilling fluids and cementing, with the aim of increasing efficiency and cost saving.

Delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Oil and Gas, PDO, Gulf Standardization Organization and Association of Oil and Gas Producers.

Golf for Charity

The Golf for Charity event was held at Ghala Golf Club, where sponsorships were made towards individual players or teams of four in a Texas Scramble Tournament. All the proceeds from the initiative were distributed to families in need.

Entrepreneurs Boot Camp

Sixty Omani entrepreneurs took part in the first joint Boot Camp, which aimed to deliver training, incubation, coaching, and mentoring to entrepreneurs in establishing their start-up businesses.

Delivered in partnership with the National Business Center (NBC).

Second Izki Club Festival

BP Oman supported the second Block 61 community stakeholder engagement event, which showcased local Omani companies through an exhibition.

Creativity Centre

This initiative linked students in Owaifiyah School in Bahla with students in Abu Nabhan School in Muscat through a centre for creative extracurricular activities.

مشاريع ريادة األعمال

ركزت مشاريع ريادة األعمال من برنامج بي بي ُعمان لالستثمار خطة بتوفري وذلك الناشئة املشاريع تطوير على االجتماعي النطاق النمو ليس يف عمل جتارية، ودعم مادي يساعد على احمللي فحسب وإمنا على النطاق اإلقليمي. الهدف من ذلك املساهمة يف تطوير املشهد االقتصادي احمللي خللق فرص عمل للشركات ورواد األعمال. هذا بدوره سيعود بالنفع لدعم القيمة احمللية املضافة والتنوع االقتصادي من خالل اإلسهام يف خلق قيم مستدامة يف هذا اجملال.اجلدير بالذكر بأن هذه ٣٠٠ شخص وأكرث يزيد عن تنموية ملا املشاريع وفرت فرص

حول بي بي ُعمان ومشروع خزان

العامل، يف والغاز النفط شركات أكرب إحدى بي بي تعترب سلطنة يف ملحوظًا حضورًا بي بي سجلت وقد العلوي الشق ألنشطة تأديتها ٢٠٠٧عرب عام منذ عمان بي. بي. وتعد والغاز. النفط جمال يف عليها املتعارف رائدة شركة وهي السلطنة يف املستثمرين أكرب أحد يف إنتاج الغاز غري التقليدي، وهي هنا تأتي بخربة وتقنية تقليدية الغري الغاز حقول أكرب من واحد لتطوير حديثة يف الشرق األوسط، جنبا إىل جنب مع إلتزامها يف تطوير اخلربة وأصحاب اخلريجني من العماين الشباب قدرات األمد على أنشطتها تأدية لدعم والتوظيف التدريب عرب

البعيد.

مت يف تاريخ ١٦ من ديسمرب ٢٠١٣ توقيع إتفاقية مبيعات وانتاج الغاز بني وزارة النفط والغاز وشركة بي. بي. تقوم مبوجبها الشركة بتطوير حقل خزان )منطقة اإلمتياز ٦١(، ومت التصديق على االتفاقية مبرسوم سلطاين يف فرباير

من عام٢٠١٤.

منطقة يف العمليات بادارة ُعمان بي. بي. تقوم وعليه اإلمتياز٦١، ومتتلك نسبة ٦٠٪ ، أما شركة النفط العمانية لإلستكشاف واالنتاج فتمتلك نسبة ٤٠٪ ، وتشمل مرحلة قيمته واملقدرة خزان حقل ملشروع الكامل التطوير بئر بحوايل ستة عشر مليار دوالر أمريكي حفر حوايل 300 اإلنتاج لرفع مستوى القادمة خالل اخلمسة عشر سنة برميل و25000 يوميا الغاز من مكعب قدم مليار نحو إىل يوميًا من الغاز املكثف. ومن املتوقع تسليم أول شحنة من الغاز على نهاية العام 2017، وبذلك حتقيق زيادة يف اإلنتاج احمللي بحوايل الثلث وتعزيز خمزون السلطنة من

الغاز.
